Jarrell basketball player Mason Dotson voted Austin-area Boys Athlete of the Week
Jarrell basketball player Mason Dotson, who averaged 30.5 points in recent wins over Lampasas and Gateway Prep, was voted the Covert Chevrolet Bastrop Austin-Area Boys Athlete of the Week for Feb. 5-10.
Dotson, a senior point guard, received nearly 51% of the vote.
McCallum soccer player Gus Ehlers, Vandegrift basketball player Mark Fletcher, Weiss basketball player Cameron Jackson and Hendrickson basketball player Chi Ukachukwu were the other candidates. Vandegrift soccer player Emmy Aranda won the previous week's poll.
The American-Statesman will have a weekly vote for Boys Athlete of the Week and Girls Athlete of the Week throughout the academic year.
