Ja'Ron Jefferson, Brandon Weaver named Coaches of the Year at OKC Metro Sports Awards
Putnam City West High School girls basketball coach Ja'Ron Jefferson and Oklahoma Christian School boys basketball coach Brandon Weaver were named the Girls and Boys Team Coaches of the Year Friday night at the 2024 OKC Metro High School Sports Awards, presented by LC Management Group.
The show was held at the Rose State Performing Arts Center and honored more than 300 student-athletes from the Oklahoma City area.
The Boys and Girls Team Coaches of the Year were sponsored by USA Today Sports.
The other two finalists for the Girls Team Coach of the Year were Newcastle softball coach Mike Crossley and Bishop McGuinness volleyball coach Kelli Miller.
The boys other finalists for Boys Team Coach of the Year were Westmoore baseball coach Brian Hunnicutt and Edmond North wrestling coach Andy Schneider.

That was the motto Jefferson instilled into the Putnam City West girls basketball team this season. It meant that they didn't have to do it all themselves. That they had a team around them.
The words and philosophy paid off.
With the coach of Jefferson, Putnam City West won its second state title in school history. Not only did they win the Class 6A title, they beat the two-time defending champs to do it.
Jefferson was also named The Oklahoman's Super 5 girls basketball coach of the Year. Also, the team won Girls Team of the Year at the awards.
Weaver’s presence on the sidelines proved crucial in one of the best seasons in Oklahoma Christian School's program history.
He led the Saints to a 26-2 record in his ninth year under the helm to win OCS' first state championship since 2007. The Saints went 26-2 and defeated two-time defending champion Millwood in the Class 3A title game.
He was also named The Oklahoman's Super 5 Coach of the Year.
