James Harden addresses report about Rockets, committed to Sixers

NEW YORK–Before the Philadelphia 76ers took on the New York Knicks on Christmas Day, a Woj bomb dropped from ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski that James Harden is seriously considering a return to the Houston Rockets in free agency in 2023.

The Sixers acquired Harden from the Brooklyn Nets at the 2022 deadline that sent Ben Simmons and other pieces to the Nets. In the 2022 free agency, Harden and the Sixers agreed to a 1+1 deal where Harden has a player option in 2023, but per Woj, Harden’s future with the Sixers is up in the air.

After the win over the Knicks on Christmas, Harden addressed the report and he remains committed to Philadelphia.

“I’m here,” he stated. “We’re playing very well and I don’t know where that report came from, but I’m excited to be here and we’re playing very well. We’re continuing to get better.”

The Sixers will continue their 4-game road trip on Tuesday when they pay a visit to the Washington Wizards. Harden and the Sixers have now won eight in a row and they will look to keep that going.
