James Borrego provides injury updates on Miles Bridges, P.J. Washington, Devonte’ Graham

The Hornets were dealt all kinds of injury blows to start the week, namely on Tuesday ahead of their meeting with the Pistons. In the afternoon injury report, Miles Bridges was added after entering health and safety protocols as was P.J. Washington. Those two joined Devonte’ Graham, Cody Martin and Gordon Hayward as out for the contest.

Prior to the game, Borrego discussed how long those players may be out moving forward. The amount of time Bridges will be in health and safety protocols was not yet known for Borrego, who said the team is taking it one day at a time. ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, though, reported that Bridges is expected to need to spend 10-14 days in quarantine, a timeframe that will push him up against the conclusion of the regular season and the play-in game.

Washington’s status is considered day-to-day as Borrego reiterated it was a personal matter that was keeping him out, though he did not further elaborate. Likewise, Graham is considered day-to-day as well with his right knee discomfort. In a rare bit of positive news when it come to injuries, Borrego did say that the team received good news on Graham’s knee on Tuesday and he is hopeful Graham can make a return on Thursday or Friday.

Lastly, Martin is expected to be some significant time with a left ankle sprain sustained in Sunday’s loss to Miami. While Borrego said they don’t expect it to be as severe as Malik Monk’s ankle sprain that kept him out nearly a month, it is an injury that will take some time to heal.

This all comes on a day as well when the team received an update on Gordon Hayward and his right foot sprain. Hayward’s walking boot was removed and he could begin weight-bearing exercises as he begins his rehabbing process to return to the court. Hayward has been out since April 2.

After Tuesday’s game, Charlotte will have a day off on Wednesday before a back-to-back on Thursday and Friday against Chicago and Orlando, respectively.
