About the Jaguars

  • The Jaguars have the NFL's longest current winning streak at five games and can win six in a row for the first time since the 1999 season.

  • Quarterback Trevor Lawrence was 24 of 32 for 292 yards in the Jags 20-10 victory over Pittsburgh, the third time he's completed better than 75 percent of his passes with 30 or more attempts -- tied for the most in the NFL. Lawrence is going for his sixth game in a row with a passer rating of 90 or higher.

  • Evan Engram is second among NFL tight ends in having the most games with five or more receptions, seven. He had season highs with 10 receptions for 88 yards against the Steelers.

About the 49ers

  • San Francisco is one of only five NFL teams ranked among the top 10 in offense and defense this week, along with Baltimore, Detroit, Kansas City and Philadelphia. The Niners are fourth in total offense and 10th in total defense.

  • Running back Christian McCaffrey has a running or receiving touchdown in 17 consecutive games, counting last year's playoffs, the longest streak in NFL history. If he gets a TD against the Jaguars he will be only the third NFL player to score in 15 consecutive regular-season games. He has 14 games with both a rushing and receiving touchdown, one behind Marshall Faulk for the most in league history.

  • Defensive end Nick Bosa has a tackler for loss in six of his last seven games and has one in his last three road games. He had two sacks when the 49ers played the Jaguars in 2021.

Key Matchup

San Francisco DE Chase Young vs. Jaguars OTs Cam Robinson and Anton Harrison

One bit of recent intrigue about the game is the impact of Young on the 49ers defense. He was traded by Washington before the NFL trade deadline, during the bye week, and immediately gives San Francisco a bookend to Nick Bosa and relegates Cle Ferrell to the second team (by the way, the Niners have two first-round draft picks, Ferrell and Javon Kinlaw, and a No. 2, Randy Gregory, on the second-team line).

Young had five sacks in seven games with the Commanders and has 14 for his career. He has tailed off after a rookie season in which he had 7.5 sacks but being on the opposite side from Bosa might give him more one-on-one opportunities.

The Jaguars offensive line, led by Robinson and Harrison, have protected quarterback Trevor Lawrence well in recent weeks. Lawrence has been sacked six times in the last three games, after going to the ground 13 times in the first five games. Harrison, the first-round rookie, has been fed a steady diet of some of the league's best pass-rushers, such as T.J. Watt, A.J. Epenesa, Leonard Floyd, DeForest Buckner and Chris Jones, and has gotten better each week.

Robinson has been stout since returning from a two-game suspension. He is the second-highest graded pass-blocker regardless of position by Pro Football Focus, and allowed only five pressures in 162 snaps in his first four games.
