Postgame recap: Jaguars drop third straight, lose to Ravens on Sunday Night Football

Can the Jacksonville Jaguars bounce back on Sunday Night Football? They'll face off against the Baltimore Ravens in the Jags' first regular-season Sunday night contest on NBC since October 2008, and there's a chance it could be a playoff preview.

Trevor Lawrence battled through an ankle injury in last week's loss to the Browns, the first time the Jags have lost back-to-back games since September against Kansas City and Houston. That was Lawrence's second multi-interception game of the season.

At 10-3, the Ravens occupy the No. 1 AFC playoff seed and would receive a first-round bye if the regular season ended today. Lamar Jackson passed for 316 yards last week as Baltimore stretched its winning run to three games, but the Jags limited him to 16 of 32 in Jacksonville's victory last season.

Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence enters concussion protocol after taking hit in loss to Ravens

Jaguars report card: Offense, coaching among big failures in 23-7 loss to Baltimore Ravens

Times-Union sports columnist Gene Frenette grades the Jaguars’ performance against the Baltimore Ravens based on execution, effort and game circumstances. - Gene Frenette

Jaguars failed to sustain momentum gained by Jamal Agnew TD reception from Trevor Lawrence

Jamal Agnew played for the first time since a shoulder injury against the San Francisco 49ers on Nov. 12, a span of four games and 35 days.

And the Jaguars wide receiver/return specialist came through with the longest pass reception of his seven-year NFL career, a catch from Trevor Lawrence and a run that left Baltimore Ravens safety Geno Stone grasping at air on his way to completing a 65-yard play to cut a 10-0 halftime deficit to 10-7 on Sunday. - Garry Smits

Jaguars commit unforced errors, drop third straight game in 23-7 loss to Ravens on SNF

With no room for error during the final month of the season, the Jacksonville Jaguars (8-6) committed far too many mistakes against the Baltimore Ravens (11-3), losing 23-7 on Sunday Night Football.

As was the case at home for Jacksonville this season, the Jaguars couldn’t overcome their gaffes, resulting in another loss to drop to 2-5 at EverBank Stadium this year. See the key takeaways. - Demetrius Harvey

FINAL: Ravens 23, Jaguars 7

The Jaguars lose their third in a row and slip to 8-6 on the year. - Clayton Freeman

Jaguars stopped in red zone yet again; Calvin Ridley catch ruled incomplete in end zone

A painful drive for the Jaguars and Trevor Lawrence, who advanced much of the distance using his legs but absorbed a couple of crunching hits from the Baltimore defense. Calvin Ridley's juggling catch of Lawrence's pass in the back for the end zone was ruled no catch, even after Doug Pederson's challenge. The fourth-down pass fell incomplete for Evan Engram, one of four Lawrence throws on the drive that appeared to come up short. Baltimore takes over, up 23-7 with 3:19 left. - Clayton Freeman

Field goal Ravens: Justin Tucker boots another kick after turnover

The Jaguars again stopped Baltimore from penetrating the end zone, but Justin Tucker still delivered a patented accurate field goal from 34 yards.

Ravens 23, Jaguars 7, 6:01 4th. - Clayton Freeman

Strip-sack: Trevor Lawrence loses handle on sack, Patrick Queen recovers for Ravens

That might do it. Justin Madubuike got to Trevor Lawrence on third down and the QB lost the handle, with Patrick Queen falling on the loose ball on the Jacksonville 20. Worse, Zay Jones pulled up on a long pass downfield two plays earlier, another injury setback for an already-wounded Jags lineup. The Ravens take over in prime field position, up 20-7 with just over seven minutes to go. - Clayton Freeman

Field goal Ravens: Justin Tucker converts from 26 yards

Again, the Jaguars' defense limits the damage after a strong Ravens drive. Inside the red zone, the Jags got a sack on Lamar Jackson on second down, and Darious Williams added a pass breakup. But Baltimore still picked up points, on the latest field goal from Justin Tucker. It's still a two-score game, so there's hope, barely, for the Jags.

Ravens 20, Jaguars 7, 8:00 4th. - Clayton Freeman

Jaguars' drive stalls after Trevor Lawrence misses Evan Engram

Not a good response from the Jaguars. Trevor Lawrence couldn't find Evan Engram on third down and the result is a quick punt back to Baltimore. The Ravens lead 17-7. - Clayton Freeman

Inside the highlight: Trevor Lawrence bounces back from scoreless first half to throw his longest career TD pass

Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence bounced back in a big way from a scoreless first half on Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens -- scoreless in part due to two inexplicable mistakes he made with the Jaguars in scoring position. - Garry Smits

Touchdown Ravens: Gus Edwards plows in from 1 yard

The Jaguars are now down two scores. Gus Edwards powers into the end zone from 1 yard out on the first play of the final quarter.

Ravens 17, Jaguars 7, 14:58 4th. - Clayton Freeman

End of third quarter: Ravens 10, Jaguars 7

Baltimore is in scoring range, after a stunning highlight: Lamar Jackson escaped pressure and threw across his body to a leaping Isaiah Likely in double coverage at the Jacksonville 5.

The Jaguars' defense is going to need another big stand. - Clayton Freeman

Jaguars go three-and-out, backed up near own end zone

No progress on that drive for the Jaguars, who continue to struggle in the red zone -- even the territory that would be their own red zone. Trevor Lawrence nearly took a safety on third down and got flagged for intentional grounding at his own 1. Logan Cooke bailed out the Jags with a net punt of 57 yards. The Ravens still lead 10-7. - Clayton Freeman

Jaguars' defense makes stop after Lamar Jackson overthrow

Baltimore moved across midfield but not any further. Lamar Jackson went deep on third down but got a little too much air on that one. The Ravens punted and the Jaguars will get the football back, trailing 10-7 with 4:22 left in the third quarter. - Clayton Freeman

Touchdown Jaguars: Jamal Agnew catches Trevor Lawrence pass downfield for 65-yard score

Jamal Agnew is officially back. The receiver, back from injury, circled around to the left sideline behind the Baltimore defense and Trevor Lawrence found him with a strike, leading to a 65-yard touchdown. That's the longest TD pass for the third-year quarterback, who had earlier kept the drive alive with a third-down completion to Evan Engram.

Ravens 10, Jaguars 7, 7:15 3rd. - Clayton Freeman

Safety blitz: Rayshawn Jenkins sacks Lamar Jackson on third down

Lamar Jackson is dangerous, as always. But the Jaguars slammed the brakes on that Baltimore drive around the 50, when Rayshawn Jenkins broke in on the safety blitz and sacked the Ravens quarterback. The Ravens punted and the Jaguars will take over around their own 15, down 10-0 with 10:14 left in the third quarter. - Clayton Freeman

Third quarter kicks off: Ravens receive kickoff

It's Baltimore ball after the kickoff hits the pylon. The Ravens lead the Jaguars, 10-0. - Clayton Freeman

HALFTIME: Clock runs out on Jaguars after time management disaster

The Jaguars leave the field for halftime with another disappointment. Trevor Lawrence passed to Zay Jones, who made an acrobatic catch at the 5. With no timeouts, the Jaguars passed up the chance to spike the ball to call a short pass to Parker Washington, who was brought down in bounds as the clock ran out. Again, a drive deep into Baltimore territory ends without points.

Ravens 10, Jaguars 0, halftime. - Clayton Freeman

Touchdown Ravens: Isaiah Likely grabs touchdown pass from Lamar Jackson

Even a 15-yard penalty on Baltimore couldn't keep the Ravens out of the end zone on that drive. Lamar Jackson continues to move this offense, dancing away from pressure and finding receivers downfield. His pass to Charlie Kolar advanced Baltimore to the 2. Then, after a penalty on John Simpson for a dead-ball bump on Jags safety Andrew Wingard, Jackson found Isaiah Likely on a 17-yard strike. The Jaguars are in a growing hole.

Ravens 10, Jaguars 0, 1:12 2nd. - Clayton Freeman

Two-minute warning: Ravens 3, Jaguars 0

Baltimore is on the move into Jaguars territory. Lamar Jackson delivered a strike to Odell Beckham Jr. to advance the visitors into field goal range. - Clayton Freeman

Fumble: Trevor Lawrence loses handle in red zone, Ravens recover

Ouch. For the third time, the Jaguars come up empty in scoring range. Two receptions by Calvin Ridley and another by Zay Jones moved the Jaguars near the red zone. But Evan Engram committed a pre-snap penalty, Parker Washington dropped a second-down pass and Trevor Lawrence lost the football without any contact while scrambling to his left on third down.

Arthur Maulet recovered for the Ravens. Baltimore still leads 3-0, 5:53 2nd. - Clayton Freeman

December swimming? Jaguars pools open again for Sunday Night Football vs. Ravens at EverBank Stadium

The water features also opened for the Monday night game two weeks ago. Here's what fans need to know about the pools, and how to get into them. - Clayton Freeman

Interception: Jaguars safety Rayshawn Jenkins picks off Lamar Jackson

They're thinking takeaways. Lamar Jackson tried a pass straight over the middle and Rayshawn Jenkins made him pay, stepping in front and catching the ball and returning to near midfield. It's good field position for the Jaguars with 11:37 left in the second quarter. - Clayton Freeman

Yes, for those watching the NBC telecast with Mike Tirico and Cris Collinsworth, that's a look at the planned stadium of the future that Shad Khan and the Jaguars are hoping to construct on the First Coast. Here's what fans need to know about the proposed venue. - Clayton Freeman

Jaguars miss field goal again: Brandon McManus attempt sails wide left

Another drive, another missed field goal for the Jags. The wind is having an effect. Trevor Lawrence got the Jaguars across midfield with a crisp out route to Zay Jones, but the Jags stalled out afterward, and the Brandon McManus slump continued with a wide-left field goal from 55 yards. The kicker has missed four of his last five. Baltimore takes over at its own 45, leading the Jaguars 3-0 with 13:01 left in the second. - Clayton Freeman

END OF FIRST QUARTER: Ravens 3, Jaguars 0

The Jaguars have the ball at the 50 when the second quarter begins. - Clayton Freeman

Sacksonville: Travon Walker downs Lamar Jackson, Ravens go three-and-out

Nice possession for the Jaguars' defensive front. On second down, DaVon Hamilton fought through the Baltimore line to throw Lamar Jackson to the turf for a gain of only 1. And on third down, Travon Walker broke through to down Jackson in the backfield.

Jamal Agnew returned the punt to the Jacksonville 38 and the Jags open the drive with promising field position, trailing Baltimore 3-0 with 59 seconds left in the first quarter. - Clayton Freeman

After long Luke Farrell catch, Brandon McManus misses field goal try for Jaguars

The first big play of the night for the Jaguars' offense: Trevor Lawrence fired a strike over the middle to tight end Luke Farrell, picking up 28 yards. But it didn't lead to points. Tank Bigsby got stuffed for a loss on first down, Trevor Lawrence overthrew the flat on second down and Jamal Agnew stumbled on a third-down screen. The wind grabbed a 50-yard field goal attempt by Brandon McManus and it clanged off the goalpost. The Jags appealed for a roughing-the-kicker flag on the Ravens, but officials ruled otherwise. Baltimore still leads 3-0, 3:03 1st. - Clayton Freeman

Field goal Ravens: After Josh Allen's pressure on Lamar Jackson, Justin Tucker nails field goal

Lamar Jackson made that drive look pretty easy for Baltimore... until he got to the red zone. Jackson escaped pressure on the way to keep some long, long plays going, including completions to Rashod Bateman and Keaton Mitchell inside Jags territory. But Jackson slipped on a patch of slick grass on second down, and on third down, Josh Allen overpowered the left of the line and forced the Ravens QB into intentional grounding. So Justin Tucker came on for the 43-yard field goal.

Ravens 3, Jaguars 0, 6:21 1st. - Clayton Freeman

First Jaguars drive stalls at midfield after high Trevor Lawrence pass

The Jags did get a first down, courtesy of Trevor Lawrence's backhand shovel pass to Travis Etienne for 13 yards on third down. But the Jaguars couldn't progress across midfield, with Lawrence's third-down pass to Zay Jones missing high over the middle. Etienne appears to be moving with some zip in the early going. After Logan Cooke's punt, the Ravens get the ball with scores tied 0-0, 12:12 1st. - Clayton Freeman

Bright spots in recent losses: Jaguars rookies Antonio Johnson, Parker Washington stepping up

Two rookies have emerged to make a handful of big plays for the Jaguars during their two-game losing streak, entering Sunday night's game against Baltimore.

Wide receiver Parker Washington, a sixth-round draft pick, caught his second touchdown pass in two games from quarterback Trevor Lawrence in Sunday’s 31-27 loss at Cleveland and defensive back Antonio Johnson, a fifth-round selection, had a sack, forced a fumble and batted down a pass. - Garry Smits

'Can't hide behind that anymore': Pederson won't excuse lack of focus from Jaguars

Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson doesn't have more room for excuses anymore when it comes to his team heading into the Sunday Night Football Week 15 matchup against the Baltimore Ravens.

Though the Jaguars are a younger team and have to deploy several young players — including rookie right tackle Anton Harrison, receiver Parker Washington, tight end Brenton Strange and safety Antonio Johnson, who are or have been playing significant snaps — Pederson doesn't want to use that fact as an excuse. - Demetrius Harvey

'We'll take care of ours': Jaguars defenders see path to improvement, starts vs. Ravens

If a fire hadn't been lit under the Jacksonville Jaguars' defense up to this point in the season, it is now after two straight weeks of performances that did not live up to their standards.

The defense rebounded last week against the Cleveland Browns for most of the game — Cleveland accounted for just 82 rushing yards on the ground, but 21 points and 105 passing yards came on three plays as a result of broken coverage or miscues by the Jacksonville defense. - Demetrius Harvey

Ridley understands the expectations of what he was to bring to this offense isn’t the same as quarterback Trevor Lawrence’s other targets, mainly Christian Kirk, Zay Jones, Evan Engram and Travis Etienne. - Gene Frenette
