Jaguars reach 3-year deal with TE Evan Engram ahead of deadline
The Jacksonville Jaguars and Evan Engram agreed to a three-year deal Sunday ahead of the July 17 deadline for franchised players to sign long-term contracts.
Engram’s agent, Mike McCartney, announced the news on social media, and Jordan Schultz of The Score wrote that it was a $42.5 million deal with $25.5 million guaranteed. Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero of NFL Network later reported it was a three-year, $42.25 million contract with $24 million guaranteed.
The former New York Giants first-round pick joined the Jaguars as a free agent last offseason on a one-year deal and put together a career-best season in Jacksonville. After finishing the season with 73 receptions for 766 yards (both career highs), Engram told reporters that it was the “best year of his life” and he hoped to stay with the team.
On Sunday, he celebrated the new deal with the Jaguars.

Jacksonville ensured the tight end didn’t reach free agency by using the franchise tag on Engram. However, if the two sides didn’t reach a deal by the Monday deadline, he would’ve played the 2023 season on a one-year, $11.345 million deal.
With a salary that now averages just over $14 million per year, Engram is the fifth highest paid tight end in the NFL behind only Darren Waller, George Kittle, Travis Kelce, and Dallas Goedert.
