Jaguars name 13 players to initial practice squad

With the Jacksonville Jaguars announcing their initial 53-man roster on Tuesday and making a waiver claim on Wednesday, they were able to also release an initial list of players to their practice squad. For now, they have filled 13 of their 16 practice squad slots — and the initial list of players are as follows:

All of the following players are returning from the Jags’ training camp roster, but it’s possible their three remaining slots could be used on players who were with other teams this summer.

A notable player who the Jags didn’t name to practice squad from their training camp roster was sixth-round rookie Jalen Camp. While he was a project player, he was one the Jags spent a draft pick on, and typically teams are more willing to develop their own late-round selections in-house.

With quarterback Jake Luton also getting picked up by the Seattle Seahawks, the Jags undoubtedly will be looking to fill one of their three available spots with a signal-caller. While it’s not uncommon to have two active roster quarterbacks, it is uncommon to not have at least a third quarterback on practice squad.
