Jaguars G Brandon Scherff suffers ankle injury vs. Colts

Jacksonville Jaguars right guard Brandon Scherff suffered an ankle injury in Week 1 against the Indianapolis Colts.

Scherff, 31, was injured on the tail-end of a third down play early in the second half when Colts cornerback Kenny Moore II fell on to the back of his ankle. Jaguars teammates immediately waved for training staff to come on to the field and Scherff was eventually able to walk off the field with assistance.

After Scherff was attended to in the medical tent on the sideline, the Jaguars ruled him questionable to return but carted him to the locker room.

Earlier this week, Scherff was named a Jaguars team captain for the second time in as many seasons with the team. Prior to joining Jacksonville as a free agent in 2022, Scherff was a five-time Pro Bowler with the Washington Commanders.

The Jaguars signed Scherff to a three-year, $49.5 million deal last year that was restructured during the 2023 offseason.
