Jaguar shooting woes lead to defeat in season opener

Nov. 3—Shooting just 33-percent (21-63) from the field proved to be the Jacksonville College Jaguars' shortcoming in its season opener against Dallas College-Brookhaven Thursday evening at Curtis Carroll Fieldhouse.

The visiting Bears improved to 2-0 by beating the JC men, 77-64.

JC fell behind 37-23 at halftime before heating up in the final half and outscoring Brookhaven, 41-40.

Donovan Holcomb (Tomball, Texas) scored a team best 14 points and pulled down nine rebounds to spark the Jag effort.

Another reserve, Miles Williams (Houston), poured in 13 points had snatched up seven boards.

Daylon Morales (Rosenberg, Texas) finished with 13 points.

JC made 5-of-25 (20%) from beyond the arc and connected at a 54.8-percent clip (17-31) from the free throw line.

At 4 p.m. Saturday the Jags will host Dallas College-Cedar Valley.
