Jae’Sean Tate puts up career game as Rockets tie franchise loss record
On Tuesday, rookie Jae’Sean Tate scored a career-high 25 points, but the effort was not enough as the Houston Rockets dropped their 17th straight game, tying a franchise record for the most consecutive losses.
Tate also added six rebounds and six assists in 34 minutes of action during the 119-107 defeat to the Atlanta Hawks. He finished the contest by shooting 9-of-19 from the field, including a career-high 4-of-7 from 3-point range in the loss.
Despite the strong performance by Tate, the Rockets tied the expansion San Diego Rockets during the 1967-68 season with their 17th straight loss. The team has lost every game since Christian Wood went down with an ankle injury on Feb. 4.
The Rockets have dealt with several other injuries on the roster and only had eight available to play on Tuesday. The team is also missing John Wall (knee), Eric Gordon (groin) and Danuel House Jr. (knee) among other players.
While the season has certainly taken a turn for the worst, Tate is making the most of his opportunity this year with the Rockets. The team is certainly building toward the future and the undrafted forward from Ohio State is making a case that he should stick around.
