Jacksonville's Austin Reed, Kingsley Eguakun receive 2024 NFL Combine invites

NFL Draft season is upon us.

With the Super Bowl in the rearview mirror, the NFL released the list of 321 prospects invited to the scouting combine at the end of the month.

Of the hundreds of prospects, two will be representing the Jacksonville area. St. Augustine grad Austin Reed and Sandalwood alum Kingsley Eguakun both received invites and will be headed to Indianapolis to showcase their talent.

Here's a closer look at both players:

One of the area's best passers while buzzing for St. Augustine, Reed passed for 3,230 yards with 36 touchdowns and nine interceptions during his high school career.

He threw for nearly 3,000 of those yards during his senior season, playing in 13 games while helping the Yellow Jackets to a 12-1 record. He commanded a prolific offense that averaged more than 40 points per game and went undefeated in the regular season.

He went on to play for West Florida in Division II football, setting the record for most touchdowns in a championship game while delivering West Florida's first ever national championship, before transferring to Western Kentucky.

He passed for 8,084 yards and 22 touchdowns in two seasons at Western Kentucky, starting 26 games for the Hilltoppers.

He's currently projected as a third day draft pick or one of the top undrafted free agents available.

Kingsley Eguakun, Offensive Lineman, Florida (Sandalwood)

Ranked as a three-star lineman coming out of high school, Eguakun was a star for Sandalwood.

He committed to Florida and appeared in 44 games for the Gators, though, suffering an ankle injury that limited his play during his final season. He appeared in only four contests last year.

Still, he's seen as a day three pick with strong traits as a pass blocker, only allowing one sack in his career.

His run blocking has upside as well and he's experienced, logging nearly two thousand snaps in his college career as a center in the SEC.
