What will Jacksonville State football make for non-conference trip to South Carolina?

Jacksonville State is participating in its first buy game as an FBS program, so what do the newcomers to the FBS make in a buy game?

The Gadsden Times and USA Today Network looked through the game contract to determine the answer ahead of Jax State trip to South Carolina this Saturday (11 a.m. CT, ESPNU). Jacksonville State will make $1,300,000 for the trouble of making the trip to Columbia. The payment is due on or before January 31, 2024.

The game was agreed upon after Jacksonville State started the transition process, becoming official on May 10, 2022. Other perks of the trip is 1,400 tickets for Jax State to sell to fans and 600 tickets for the band, The Marching Southerners.

Jacksonville State played three other non-conference games in the 2023 season. The Coastal Carolina home-and-home had no money transferred between the schools while the other home-and-home deal with Eastern Michigan will end up as a net neutral. Jacksonville State paid East Tennessee State $425,000 for their game, a payment that was due 60 days after the game.

Jacksonville State is coached by Rich Rodriguez, who is in his second season with the Gamecocks and has led them to a 7-2 record this season.
