Jacksonville College men and women lose latest Region XIV outings

Jan. 27—(Men) Angelina College 63, Jacksonville College 58: LUFKIN — Jacksonville College came close to upsetting Angelina College on Saturday, but in the end the Roadrunners were able to escape with a 63-58 win. The 'Runners led 37-32 at halftime, with each club scoring 26 points in the last half of play. AC had 16 offensive rebounds compared to JC's four, which gave the home team the edge in second chance points. The Jaguars (6-14, 1-9) made 13-of-15 (86.7%) of their free throws, while AC (14-6, 5-4) sank 4-of-6 from the charity stripe. Jared Duplechain led JC in scoring with 19 points. He also grabbed four rebounds. FredTravious Benjamin (16 points, 6 rebounds, 5 steals) and Anthony Riggans (13 points, 7 rebounds) also played well for the Jags. At 7 p.m. Tuesday the Jags will host Strength 'N Motion.

(Women) Kilgore College 73, Jacksonville College 25: JACKSONVILLE — Visiting Kilgore College spanked Jacksonville College, 73-25, at the Curtis Carroll Fieldhouse Saturday afternoon. JC (2-14, 0-5) shot just 24.4% (11-of-45) from the field. Grace Okih scored eight points and pulled down 13 boards for the Lady Jags. The Lady Rangers improved to 11-8, 4-1.
