Jackson area boys basketball rankings: Dyer County remains No. 1 in final regular season poll
The TSSAA boys basketball playoffs have arrived for Jackson area teams.
It’s time to look at the final rankings of the regular season. Here are the top 10 boys basketball teams in West Tennessee.
1. Dyer County (24-2): Jamin Gauldin and Pierre Isom continue to put Dyer County in prime position to excel as the TSSAA basketball playoffs begin. Last week: No. 1.
2. TCA (20-6): Kaleb Williams continued his 3-point sharpshooting with a buzzer beater to take down USJ on the road on Tuesday – splitting the season series with the Bruins. Last week: No. 4.
3. Union City (23-5): Mr. Basketball finalist Malaki Brooks dropped 50 points in the Golden Tornadoes’ senior night win over Huntingdon and won the regular season title in District 14-1A. Last week: No. 5.
4. USJ (21-5): Brady Smith and Mills Terry have continued to cement the Bruins’ backcourt heading into the playoffs. The loss to TCA snapped a nine-game winning streak. Last week: No. 3.

5. Ripley (20-7): The Tigers have lost just once in 2024, a two-point loss to Haywood. Ripley has won 12 of its last 13 games, including the last seven heading into the playoffs. Last week: No. 6.
6. Dyersburg (18-7): Ace Mahaffey scored his 1,000th career point in Tuesday’s win against South Gibson. Dyersburg beat the Hornets twice last week and claimed the No. 1 seed in the District 13-3A tournament. Last week: No. 8.
7. McKenzie (16-7): Tate Surber and the Rebels won four big games last week to claim the top spot in the District 12-1A tournament. Last week: No. 9.
8. Bolivar (19-5): After winning 11 games in a row, the Tigers fell in two games last week but have shown their dominance throughout the season. Last week: No. 2.

9. Chester County (19-6): Chester County is struggling into the playoffs, having lost three of their last five. However, the Eagles earned the No. 2 seed in the District 12-3A tournament with their solid play throughout the district schedule. Last week: No. 7.
10. South Side (12-7): Despite a tough second half against rival North Side on Thursday, the Hawks have been playing at a high level heading into the playoffs and clinched the No. 1 seed in the District 12-3A tournament. Last week: No. 10.
