Jackson area boys basketball rankings: Four newcomers enter top 10

West Tennessee’s top boys basketball teams have returned after the winter storm.

With the postseason picture coming into view, it’s time to take a look, once again, at the top area teams.

Here is the latest West Tennessee boys high school basketball rankings.

1. Dyer County (19-2): Jamin Gauldin, Marcus Martin and Pierre Isom have helped propel Dyer County to new heights, but a tight home loss to Dyersburg on Saturday snapped an 11-game winning streak. Last week: No. 1. This week: vs. South Gibson (7:30 p.m., Tuesday), at Dyersburg (7:30 p.m., Friday).

2. Bolivar (17-3): Tracy Jones has anchored the Tigers’ frontcourt and helped guide the team to nine wins in a row and 10 in their last 11 games. Last week: No. 2. This week: vs. Fayette Ware (7:30 p.m., Tuesday), at Bolton (7:30 p.m., Friday).

3. Chester County (17-3): Chad Barham scored 19 points to lead the Eagles over a struggling North Side squad on Friday night. Last week: No. 6. This week: at South Side (7:30 p.m., Tuesday), at McNairy (7:30 p.m., Friday), at Hardin County (7:30 p.m., Saturday).

4. USJ (18-4): Mills Terry scored 21 points in two games and added another 16-point performance in the Bruins three wins last week, including earning a road win over Jackson Christian on Tuesday. Last week: No. 5. This week: at TCA (7:30 p.m., Monday), vs. Fayette Academy (7:15 p.m., Tuesday), at Sacred Heart (6 p.m., Friday).

5. TCA (16-5): Kaleb Williams scored 17 points to lead the Lions to a season sweep of Jackson Christian to bounce back from an overtime loss to Sacred Heart earlier in the week. Last week: No. 3. This week: vs. USJ (7:30 p.m., Monday), vs. Carroll Academy (2:15 p.m., Tuesday), vs. Tipton-Rosemark (7:30 p.m., Tuesday), at Fayette Academy (7:30 p.m., Friday).

6. Union City (19-5): Malaki Brooks has been on a tear for the Golden Tornadoes, who have won their last seven and 11 of last 12 games. Brooks dropped 35 points against Gleason on Saturday, earning his 10th game with 30 or more points. Last week: Not ranked. This week: at Lake County (7:30 p.m., Tuesday), vs. Gleason (7:30 p.m., Friday).

7. McKenzie (11-6): Tate Surber is averaging 23 points per game to lead the Rebels to seven straight wins. Last week: No. 9. This week: at Huntingdon (7:30 p.m., Tuesday), at Houston County (7:30 p.m., Friday).

8. Dyersburg (15-6): The Trojans have reeled off six straight wins and have won seven of their last eight, including Saturday’s massive road win over Dyer County. Last week: Not ranked. This week: at Crockett County (7:30 p.m., Tuesday), vs. Dyer County (7:30 p.m., Friday).

9. Ripley (16-7): The Tigers have won eight of their last nine games, including a big home win over Haywood on Saturday. Last week: Not ranked. This week: vs. Milan (7:30 p.m., Friday).

10. Camden (16-5): Ayden Melton’s prolific scoring abilities have helped lead the Lions to wins in 12 of their previous 13 games – including two wins over Huntingdon. Last week: Not ranked. This week: at Hickman County (7:30 p.m., Tuesday), vs. Stewart County (7:30 p.m., Friday).
