Isaac Sorensen, Mia Duckett earn Press-Citizen's Athlete of the Week honors

Clear Creek Amana track star Isaac Sorensen and Solon girls track star Mia Duckett were voted by readers as the Iowa City Press-Citizen's Athlete of the Week for April 8-15.

Sorensen won boys Athlete of the Week with 34% of the vote. Solon boys soccer player Ryan Locke placed second with 27% of the vote.

Sorensen, a junior, earned three gold medals at the Mount Pleasant's Denny White Relays. Individually, he ran a time of 2:03.43 to clinch first place in the 800 meters. Sorensen also contributed to CCA's 800-meter medley relay and 4x400 relay teams that each placed first.

Mia Duckett was voted by Iowa City Press-Citizen readers as the girls Athlete of the Week for April 8-15.

Duckett, a senior, earned girls Athlete of the Week with 33% of the vote. Regina girls soccer player Gabby Sueppel earned second place, finishing with 30% of the vote.

Duckett had a strong performance at the Clark Weaver Linn-Mar Invitational. Individually, the fourth-year Spartan ran a time of 12.42 in the 100 meters, a Blue Oval Standard for the Drake Relays. She ran anchor for Solon's 4x100 relay team that hit a blue standard time of 50.43, finishing in second place. Duckett was also a part of the 4x200 team that earned second place.
