Iowa women’s basketball makes top 5 for 4-star class of 2024 Illinois PG

After a run to the national championship game, Iowa women’s basketball has plenty of momentum heading into the 2023-24 season.

Superstar Caitlin Clark is back alongside a talented core that features names such as Molly Davis, Gabbie Marshall, Kate Martin, Addison O’Grady and Hannah Stuelke. With that group back, the Iowa Hawkeyes understandably feel they can make another run at a championship.

Still, for Iowa head women’s basketball coach Lisa Bluder and her staff, it’s always important to continue looking and building for the future. The Hawkeyes already have a talented 2024 class thus far, including three top 100  players per ESPN.

Why not add another? Iowa has been in the mix for point guard Aaliyah Guyton out of Peoria High School in Illinois. The 5-foot-8 point guard revealed her top five schools, which features the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Alongside Iowa, Guyton includes Illinois, Michigan State, Nebraska and Pittsburgh in her final five schools. She also received offers from schools such as Ohio State, Wisconsin, Missouri, Mississippi State, Vanderbilt, Wichita State, Illinois-Chicago, DePaul, Oakland (Mich.), and Bradley.

Guyton averaged 21.6 points, 4.6 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 2.1 steals during this past season to garner Journal Star Girls Basketball Player of the Year honors. She was also named the Big 12 Conference Player of the Year for a second straight season. Guyton led the Lions to a 29-4 record and third-place finish in Class 3A in Illinois.

The talented point guard averaged 20.0 points, 3.5 assists, 3.0 steals and 2.0 rebounds during her sophomore season. Per ESPN, Guyton is the nation’s No. 60 player overall and a four-star prospect. She is the daughter of former NBA player and Indiana Hoosier A.J. Guyton.

Below is a look at Guyton’s full recruiting profile, some of her highlights courtesy of 309 Sports and a peek at Iowa’s 2024 class thus far.
