Iowa Cubs score three in eighth to top Columbus Clippers 4-3

Sunday's game: Iowa 4, Columbus 3

Recap: Yonathan Perlaza and Jack Slaughter homered in the Cubs' three-run eighth inning to supply the winning runs. Perlaza opened the inning by greeting reliever Chris Vallimont (2-6) with a blast to left field. Matt Mervis later singled before Slaughter homered. Bryan Lavastida homered for the Clippers in the second inning and is now hitting .500 in his six games since being called up from Akron. Brayan Rocchio and Daniel Schneemann had two hits each for Columbus. Clippers starter Hunter Gaddis was sharp, allowing one run on two hits in five innings.
