Inland Lakes blown out by Bartel, Harbor Springs in boys basketball opener

INDIAN RIVER – The Inland Lakes Bulldogs were hoping for a positive start to their boys basketball season.

But the Harbor Springs Rams quickly made sure that didn’t happen.

Led by a stellar performance from Rider Bartel – who scored all of his game-high 33 points in the first half – the Rams were too much for the Bulldogs in a 76-29 rout in Indian River on Thursday.

Bartel made five 3-pointers in the opening quarter for the Rams (2-0), who built a 30-12 lead. He added two more treys in the second to help push the Harbor Springs advantage to 52-17 by halftime.

The Bulldogs (0-1) were led by a team-high 13 points from senior Sam Schoonmaker. Aidan Fenstermaker netted seven points, Connor Wallace tallied five, and Noah Shugar added seven.
