Injury Report: Warriors’ Draymond Green (illness) to return vs. Hawks on Friday

Following a rough blowout loss to the Sacramento Kings, the Golden State Warriors will get reinforcements for the backend of a back-to-back on Friday night. Following a one-game absence due to an illness, Draymond Green will return to the lineup.

Although Green will return for a tilt against Trae Young and the Hawks, the Warriors will still be without Steph Curry. The seven-time All-Star guard is slated to miss his fifth straight game with a tailbone contusion.

After giving up 141 points to the Kings, the Warriors will get a needed boost on the defensive side of the floor. Along with helping slow down Trae Young on defense, Green will give Steve Kerr’s rotation a proven playmaker with the basketball.

During the 2020-21 campaign, Green is averaging 6.1 points on 39.7% shooting from the field with 8.4 assists, 6.6 rebounds and 1.4 steals per contest.

With Green out on Thursday, Juan Toscano-Anderson stepped up. The Oakland native tallied 15 points on a perfect 6-of-6 shooting from the field with six rebounds and four assists in 26 minutes. On Friday, Toscano-Anderson will slide back into a role in the second unit.

Green and the Warriors will host the Hawks at 7 p.m. PT on Friday at San Francisco’s Chase Center.
