Injury Report: Warriors’ Andre Iguodala (hip) out, Patrick Baldwin Jr. (thumb) questionable vs. Lakers on opening night

After securing the 2022 NBA title after eliminating the Boston Celtics in six games, the Golden State Warriors will return to the court as defending champs to open the 2022-23 season on Tuesday night at San Francisco’s Chase Center against the Los Angeles Lakers.

While the contest is expected to feature familiar names like Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, Jordan Poole, LeBron James and Anthony Davis, the Warriors will be without a key piece off the bench in the season opener.

Andre Iguodala has been ruled out for the Warriors on Tuesday night due to left hip injury management. Along with Iguodala, rookie Patrick Baldwin Jr. is also listed on the injury report as questionable due to a right thumb sprain.

Baldwin Jr. impressed during the preseason, scoring in every contest off the bench and knocking down at least one 3-pointer in four of Golden State’s five preseason games. If he’s able to play on Tuesday, the No. 28 overall pick from the 2022 NBA draft will join Steve Kerr’s bench unit that features fellow young players like Jonathan Kuminga, Moses Moody and James Wiseman.

The Warriors will host the Lakers on Tuesday night, with tipoff set for 7 p.m. PT.
