Injury Report: Re-evaluation slated for rookie James Wiseman (sprained wrist) on Thursday

With James Wiseman and Kevon Looney sidelined due to injuries, the Golden State Warriors have recently dealt with a thin rotation at the center position. However, the Warriors could be getting some reinforcements in the frontcourt soon.

With Looney slated to have his sprained ankle re-evaluated on Wednesday before the Warriors host the Miami Heat at Chase Center, Wiseman will follow on Thursday. According to Steve Kerr, Wiseman will have his sprained wrist re-evaluated on Thursday.

The 2020 No. 2 overall draft pick was able to go through warm-ups and the non-contact portion of Golden State’s practice on Tuesday, per Kerr.

If Wiseman is on track to return after Thursday, the rookie center could be available for Golden State’s upcoming four-game road trip. Wiseman’s return could come in time for a matchup with fellow top pick LaMelo Ball and the Charlotte Hornets on Saturday.

Despite missing the Warriors’ previous eight contests, Wiseman is averaging 12.2 points on 50.3% shooting from the field with 6.1 rebounds and 1.3 blocks in 21 minutes per game.

If Wiseman isn’t available, the Warriors will likely lean on a small-ball lineup with Draymond Green and Juan Toscano-Anderson playing significant roles in the frontcourt.
