Indiana women's basketball guard Sara Scalia wins 3-point championship in Phoenix

Indiana women's basketball guard Sara Scalia won the 2024 women's 3-point championship at Global Credit Union Arena in Phoenix on Thursday night with 19 3-pointers in the final round.

Scalia, who will take part in the women's college all-star game on Saturday alongside Mackenzie Holmes, hit a combined 56 3-pointers in three rounds. She beat Missouri's Hayley Frank in the finals, 19-18, and is the second-ever IU player to win the event (Aulani Sinclair).

She lost a head-to-head battle with the men's 3-point contest champ Keisei Tominaga of Nebraska, 20-16. Tominaga tortured the Hoosiers this season going 3-0 against the men's team with 23.3 points per game and four made 3-pointers in each Cornhusker win.

Scalia, who earned first-team All-Big Ten honors, was a no-brainer selection for the contest. She set a IU single-season record with 103 3-pointers (3.22 per game) and ranked 12th in the country with a 42.7 shooting percentage from 3-point range. She was second on the team with 16.3 points per game and scored 20 points or more in 10 games.

The Minnesota transfer didn't miss a single game during her two years in Bloomington and led the team with 33.0 minutes per game for an Indiana team that reached the Sweet 16.
