Gates Chili is looking to improve off of its one-win season last fall.
And with eight starters returning on offense and defense, why can't they?
In his 22nd season at the helm, coach Jason Benham is capable of turning the program back around. Quarterback Jonathan Vance is expected to have a breakout season with players like Joseph Garcia and Jeremy Tantalo returning to their skill positions. Aric Schosek and TJ Phelan brings experience to a deep offensive line.

The Spartans will be tested early as two of their first three games are on the road. The one home game is against an East team that's expected to be a title contender. Wilson has a new coach and new style of play, and Victor should be a great nonleague test.
