IHSAA baseball IndyStar preseason Super Team 2024: Meet Central Indiana's top players.

The IHSAA baseball season has begun. Here is this year's ALL-USA Central Indiana preseason Super Team.

FIRST TEAM

Ty Anderson

Westfield, Sr. P

College: Eastern Illinois

Why he's here: As a junior, Anderson led Westfield with a 5-1 record and a miniscule 1.12 ERA over 50 innings. Anderson recorded 40 strikeouts and walked just 16 batters. Anderson had a three-start stretch in May where he threw three complete-games without allowing an earned run against Zionsville, Hamilton Southeastern and Avon.

Offseason training focus: "Just trying to stay consistent in throwing strikes."

Jack Brown

College: Louisville

Why he's here: Brown has been a dominant two-way player since his freshman year at Fishers. Last season, Brown led Fishers with a .412 batting average and 21 RBIs. He hit seven doubles, three triples, three home runs and stole 11 bases. On the mound, Brown had a 6-1 record with a 1.55 ERA and 70 strikeouts over 54⅓ innings.

Fun Fact: Was a multi-event gymnast growing up before switching to baseball full time.

Noah Coy

Center Grove, Sr., SS

College: Notre Dame

Why he's here: Coy is Center Grove's top returning hitter. As a junior, Coy batted .370 with 39 runs scored, 27 RBIs, six doubles, four triples, two home runs and eight stolen bases. Coy had a .481 on-base percentage, walking 25 times and striking out just five.

Fun fact: Made 166 receptions for 2,682 yards and 35 touchdowns as a wide receiver on the Center Grove football team over three seasons.

Hogan Denny

College: Indiana

Why he's here: Denny has been a do-everything force for Mooresville since his freshman season. Last season, three-sport star batted .462 with an equally impressive .636 on-base percentage. Denny added 40 RBIs, seven doubles, nine home runs and 23 stolen bases. On the mound, Denny went 2-1 with a 1.81 ERA and 34 strikeouts over 19⅓ innings.

Offseason training focus: "I've really focused on my strength and conditioning. Those things benefit my ability on the field and enhance everything which translates to the batter's box."

Weston Harvey

Franklin Central, Sr. P

College: Bethel University

Why he's here: Harvey has an impressive frame at 6-4, 220 pounds, but he dominates with impressive pitch movement and deception rather than pure velocity. Harvey recorded a 4-2 record with 95 strikeouts over 61⅔ innings. Harvey had two 14-strikeout games in wins against Zionsville and Warren Central. He followed the second 14-K performance with an 11-strikeout win over Roncalli.

Offseason training focus: "The more strikeouts the better. I definitely want to lower my ERA and have a better record. And I definitely want to hit 90 (mph). "

Drew Helton

College: Purdue Fort Wayne

Why he's here: Helton is a sweet-swing righty with power who can dominate from the mound as well. Helton batted .443 with 24 runs scored, 30 RBIs, eight doubles, three home runs and one double. On the mound, Helton had a 5-4 record with a 1.65 ERA and 65 strikeouts over 63⅔ innings.

Fun fact: Comes from a baseball family, older brother Luke is the Friday starter at Morehead State.

Micah Rienstra-Kiracofe

College: Kent State

Why he's here: Rienstra-Kiracofe's elite athleticism translates to hard-hit balls in the batter's box, high velocity from the mound and the ability to track down everything in the outfield. As a junior, Rienstra-Kiracofe batted .432 with 43 runs scored, 32 RBIs, eight doubles, two triples, 10 home runs and six stolen bases.

Offseason training focus: "Even though my power is to the pull side, I'm trying to make sure I'm (hitting the ball) gap-to-gap. You lose some home runs, but your average goes up and more runs come in."

Cameron Sullivan

College: Notre Dame

Why he's here: Sullivan is a hard-throwing righty with wipeout secondary pitches. The Notre Dame commit had a perfect 6-0 record with a 1.55 ERA and 78 strikeouts over 40⅔ innings. At the plate, Sullivan batted .340 with eight runs scored, 16 RBIs, five doubles, one triple and one home run.

Offseason training focus: "I raised the floor and ceiling of my (velocity). ... My slider ticked up a bit, and during bullpens I've been in the low-to-mid 90s.

Davis Wagner

College: Augusta University

Why he's here: Wagner is the catalyst of a Guerin Catholic team that won 25 games last season. Wagner batted .418 with 17 runs scored, 28 RBIs, five doubles, one triple, two home runs and seven stolen bases. On the mound, Wagner led the Golden Eagles with a 9-0 record, 50 strikeouts and a 2.20 ERA. The righty went 2-for-2 in save opportunities as well.

Fun Fact: An avid golfer, Wagner taught himself the game during the COVID-19 pandemic.

SECOND TEAM

Riley Agbonhese, Zionsville, Jr., OF

College: Uncommitted

Agbonhese had a strong all-around season as a sophomore. He batted .414 with 16 runs scored, 13 RBIs, seven doubles and 17 stolen bases.

Trevor Corbett, Noblesville, Jr., IF

College: Uncommitted

Corbett possess elite bat-to-ball skills. In his second year as a starter, Corbett batted .341 with 33 runs scored, 11 RBIs, five doubles, one home run and eight stolen bases.

Ahmaad Duff, Lawrence Central, Sr., OF

College: Alabama

Duff is a three-sport star whose elite athleticism translates well to the diamond. Last season he batted .333 with 11 runs scored, 14 RBIs, four doubles, two triples, one home run and 13 stolen bases.

Nick Heitman, Mt. Vernon, Sr., P

College: Iowa

Heitman teams with Cameron Sullivan to form a dominant 1-2 punch for Mt. Vernon. Last season, Heitman had a 3.53 ERA and 62 strikeouts over 35⅔ innings. At the plate, Heitman batted .356 with 19 runs scored, 27 RBIs, 10 doubles

Nolan Jones, Covenant Christian, Sr., C

College: Uncommitted

Jones was one of the leaders on the Class 2A runner-up Warriors. Jones batted .459 with 23 runs scored, 23 RBIs, six doubles, one triple, two home runs and 14 stolen bases.

Ryan Keating, Bishop Chatard, Sr., 3B

College: Wabash

Keating is standout defensive back and two-time state champion on the Bishop Chatard football team. On the diamond, Keating batted .424 with 35 runs scored, 22 RBIs and 10 doubles.

Will Loftus, Brebeuf Jesuit, Sr., C

College: Marietta College

Loftus packs impressive power into his 5-11 frame. Last season, he batted .416 with nine runs scored, 22 RBIs, 10 doubles and six home runs.

Austin McNabb, Perry Meridian, Jr., P

College: Dayton

McNabb is a 6-4, 190-pound righty with a fastball in the low 90s. Last season, he went 7-1 with a 1.57 ERA and 54 strikeouts over 44⅔ innings.

Noah McPeek, Fishers, Sr., 1B/OF

College: St. Francis (football)

McPeek made 29 catches for 316 yards and five touchdowns on the field football field for Fishers. On the diamond, he batted .400 with 19 runs scored, 19 RBIs, five doubles, seven stolen bases and three home runs.

Isaac Pierson, Sr., P, Tri-West

College: Uncommitted

Pierson came back from a torn ACL and had a dominant junior season. The righty went 9-2 with a 1.76 ERA and 50 strikeouts over 55⅔ innings.

THIRD TEAM

Eli Bennett, Cathedral, Jr., P/1B

College: Indiana

The powerful lefty batted .311 with 14 runs scored, 18 RBIs, one double and two home runs. On the mound, Bennett went 6-1 with a 3.64 ERA and 43 strikeouts over 50 innings.

Logan Crock, Lawrence North, Sr., IF

College: Butler

A smooth-swinging switch hitter, Crock batted .357 with 23 runs scored, nine RBIs, four doubles, one home run and eight stolen bases.

Logan Gibbs, Cascade, Sr., C

College: Lincoln Trail

The power-hitting catcher batted .381 with 15 runs scored, 28 RBIs, 11 doubles, eight home runs and one stolen base last season.

Carter Hall, Park Tudor, Sr., OF/P

College: Niagara

Hall went 6-2 with a 2.00 ERA and 53 strikeouts over 49 innings. At the plate, Hall batted .341 with 34 runs scored, 27 RBIs, 11 doubles and two triples.

Dylan Henry, Roncalli, Sr., C/IF

College: Marian (football)

Henry helped Roncalli to a 20-win season in 2023. He batted .419 with 14 runs scored, 24 RBIs, four doubles, three home runs and four stolen bases.

Aidan Holtzapple, Brebeuf Jesuit, Sr., 1B

College: Marian

Holtzapple batted .373 with 18 runs scored, 27 RBIs, six double, six home runs and two stolen bases. Holtzapple had a three-game stretch from April 24 to April 26 with a home run in three consecutive games.

Owen Lecher, Lutheran, Jr., OF

College: Uncommitted

Just a sophomore, Lecher put together a dominant 2023 season. He batted .427 with 25 runs scored, 24 RBIs, eight doubles, one triple, six home runs and 11 stolen bases.

David "DJ" Mendez, Scecina, Sr., IF/P

College: Uncommitted

A three-sport standout as a quarterback and shooting guard on the football and basketball teams, respectively, Mendez may have had his best season on the diamond. He batted .459 with 32 runs scored, 24 RBIs, 12 doubles, four triples, two home runs and 19 stolen bases. Mendez added four wins and 48 strikeouts over 46⅓ innings.

Chase Wagner, Zionsville, Sr., P

College: Ball State

Wagner held batters to a .164 batting average while allowing just five earned runs over 40 innings (0.88 ERA). Wagner added 62 strikeouts and did not allow an extra-base hit all season.
