Hurricanes add former Alabama defensive lineman Jamil Burroughs
The Hurricanes are still adding to their roster just two days before they begin the season.
Miami added former Alabama defensive lineman Jamil Burroughs, sources told the South Florida Sun Sentinel.
Burroughs, who is listed at 6-3 and 309 pounds, played three seasons with the Crimson Tide, getting into 20 games. He played 252 defensive snaps and made 15 tackles with two sacks. Burroughs played in 11 games last year, making eight tackles with one sack. Pro Football Focus gave him a 69 grade on defense.
Last year, Burroughs split time between defensive tackle and defensive end. He was an effective run-stopper, earning a 69.3 run-defense grade from Pro Football Focus.
Burroughs left Alabama after a reported altercation with Crimson Tide director of player development Josh Chapman, according to Rivals.
Burroughs is the second player to transfer from Alabama to Miami since the end of last season, joining offensive guard Javion Cohen. The Hurricanes have added several defensive linemen through the transfer portal this offseason, including Purdue transfer Branson Deen and Southern Miss transfer Thomas Gore.
The Hurricanes added a late portal addition last year, as well. Running back Lucious Stanley joined Miami the week of its season opener against Bethune-Cookman in 2022.
