Hubert Davis on recruiting trail ahead of 2023-24 UNC basketball opener

The North Carolina Tar Heels open up the 2023-24 college basketball season on Monday night by hosting Radford in the Dean Dome. But before that, head coach Hubert Davis spent some time on the recruiting trail.

On Sunday, Davis was in West Virginia to keep eyes on a five-star recruit in the 2025 recruiting class.

Davis was at Huntington Prep to watch shooting guard Darryn Peterson on Sunday, visiting the five-star at his school. Peterson does hold an offer from North Carolina and the Tar Heels have shown a lot of interest in him as his recruitment has gone on.

The 6-foot-5, 195-pound guard is among the top prospects in the 2025 class ranking No. 3 overall, No. 1 shooting guard and the No. 1 player in the state of West Virginia per the 247Sports recruiting rankings.

Peterson currently has 18 offers in his recruitment with programs like Arkansas, Arizona State, Kentucky, LSU, and Ohio State among others in pursuit of him.

While UNC has yet to land a commitment in the 2025 class, they do have offers out to a handful of prospects including Peterson.
