HS Baseball: Deposit-Hancock, Oneonta, Unatego/Franklin win Section 4 titles
Deposit-Hancock, Oneonta and Unatego/Franklin earned Section 4 baseball titles Friday.
A recap of the three championship games.
Class D: Deposit-Hancock 10, Elmira Notre Dame 0
Top-seeded Deposit-Hancock scored six runs in the third inning to go up nine on the way to a win in the Section 4 Class D title game at Windsor. The game was called after five innings because of the 10-run rule.
Blake Fortunato tossed a two-hitter for the Eagles that included six strikeouts and a walk. At the plate, he was 2-for-3, with two runs and three RBIs.
Lucas Barnes was 2-for-4 with a double and two runs. Zech Begeal contributed a 2-for-4 day with a run and two RBIs.
Jahmeire Keyser and Luke Richards had the hits for the third-seeded Crusaders (15-8).
Up Next: Deposit-Hancock (18-2) will face the Section 3 champion at 1 p.m. June 1 at Windsor in a regional final/state quarterfinal.

Class B: Oneonta 5, Waverly 3
Top-seeded Oneonta scored three runs in the fourth inning to break a scoreless tie and led the rest of the way in a victory in the Section 4 Class B championship game at Union-Endicott.
Nolan Stark scattered nine hits in a complete game for the Yellowjackets. He struck out 11 and walked two.
Stark and Britten Zeh had two hits each for Oneonta. Maddox Imperato drove in the game's first two runs with a single.
Joey Tomasso was 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI for second-seeded Waverly (16-6). Jay Pipher was 2-for-3 with a double, two runs and an RBI. Ben Shaw also had two hits.
Up Next: Oneonta (21-1) will play the Section 3 champion in the regional final at 3 p.m. June 1 at Onondaga Community College.
Class C: Unatego/Franklin 4, Trumansburg 0
Braeden Johnson tossed a no-hitter to lift fourth-seeded Unatego/Franklin to a 4-0 victory in the Class C title game at Union-Endicott. He struck out 12 and walked three.
Xander Johnson paced the Unatego/Franklin offense with a 3-for-3 effort that included two doubles, two runs and two RBIs.
Braeden Johnson was 2-for-3 with an RBI.
Garret Potter gave up three runs on eight hits over five innings for second-seeded Trumansburg. He struck out seven and walked two.
Up Next: Unatego/Franklin will play the Section 3 champion in a regional final at noon June 1 at Onondaga Community College.
