How Houma- and Thibodaux-area boys' track and field athletes, teams fared in LHSAA state meet

Two Houma and Thibodaux-area boys' track and field teams claimed podium spots in their respective divisions in the LHSAA state meet this season. Vandebilt Catholic took home third in 4A, scoring 55 points, while E.D. White also finished third, this time in 3A, with 42 points.

Here's how every Houma and Thibodaux-area boys' team fared in the state track and field meet:

Central Lafourche High School

The Trojans finished tied for 15th in 5A with 12 points. Trevin LeBouef, Benjamin Hodson, Trayton Demei, and Samuel Hodson ran the 3,200-meter (3,500-yard) relay in 8 minutes, 2.98 seconds, good to claim third in the event and six points for their team. Samuel Hodson also finished fourth in the 400 meters (437 yards) for four points while Kaden Adams finished fifth with a 15-meter (16.4-yard) shot put throw, scoring two points.

E.D. White Catholic High School

The Cardinals finished third in 3A with 42 points. Owen Tauzin narrowly missed out on a state championship in the 1,600 meters (1,750 yards), finishing second with a 4:33.87 and scoring eight points. Tauzin would also add a fourth in the 3,200 meters with a 10:23.14, good for four points, and a fifth in the 800 meters (875 yards) with a 2:04.26 for two points. Noah Diedrich added a pair of fifth place finishes, running a 5:01.46 in the 1,600 meters and a 10:58.58 in the 3,200 meters, scoring two points in each event. Diedrich joined Max Bourgeois, Joachim Lafaso, and Governor Maurer ran an 8:42.35 in the 3,200-meter relay, finishing fourth and scoring four points. Maurer added a sixth-place finish in the 800 meters for another point. Jake Agosta, Matthew Melancon, Nathaniel Thompson, and Cohen Leblanc added another sixth and one more point in the 400-meter relay, with Agosta coming in second with a 4.25-meter (4.65-yard) pole vault, scoring eight points. Benjamin Rodrigue's third-place finish with a 13.62-meter (14.89-yard) triple jump to add six points.

Houma Christian School

The Warriors finished tied for 24th in 2A with eight points. Brady Sins and his 9:58.88 second place in the 3,200 meters scored all eight points for Houma Christian.

St. James High School

The Wildcats finished 17th in 3A with 15.5 points. Kaden Williams, Khai Prean, Kobe Brown, and Garry White finished second in the 400-meter relay with a 42.08, scoring eight points. Khylon Brown added a third in the long jump with his 6.65-meter (7.27-yard) jump scoring six points. Chase Jasmin finished tied for fifth with a 1.77-meter (1.93-yard) high jump, earning 1.5 points for his team.

Thibodaux High School

The Tigers finished tied for 39th in 5A with one point. Haydon Fields took home sixth in the discus with a 42.87-meter (46.88-yard) throw to score his team's only point.

Vandebilt Catholic High School

The Terriers finished third in 4A with 55 points. Jaylon Coleman took home the state title in the 200 meters (218 yards) with a 21.48, claiming 10 points. He also finished third place in the 100 meters (109 yards) with a 10.75, adding another six points. Avery Morgan finished second in the 1,600 meters with a 4:30.17, good for eight points. Alexander Castell claimed another second place in the 300-meter (328-yard) hurdles, with his 40.73 scoring eight points. Morgan, along with Wyatt Bonvillain, Robert Galinsky, and Elijah Hunter, won the state title in the 3,200-meter relay, and their time of 8:12.01 scored 10 more points. Samuel Kinnard and Cabot Cancienne combined for nine points in the javelin, with Kinnard's 51.57-meter (56.39-yard) throw taking home second and claiming eight points, while Cancienne's 42.57-meter (46.55-yard) throw finished sixth and scored one point.
