Hope women sink Albion with sharp shooting to open MIAA play

ALBION - The Hope College women's basketball team opened MIAA play with a 68-51 road win at Albion on Wednesday.

The Flying Dutch improved to 5-1, while the Britons dropped to 4-2.

Hope used a 19-10 second quarter to build a lead, then scored 26 points in the third quarter to put the game away behind four 3s.

Hope shot 44.4% for the game and made 10-of-18 3s for a stunning 55.6%.

"Albion is one of the toughest places that I have ever had to coach at in my career, and you go in there and get a win, you just feel great about it," Hope coach Brian Morehouse said.

Karsten Karlblom and Olivia Bellows each drained three 3-pointers, while Jada Garner and Sydney Vis each added two 3s.

Bellows and Karlblom each scored 15 points to lead Hope. Terin Maynard scored 10, Vis had nine and Garner had eight. Courtney Lee had six rebounds to lead Hope.
