How Hope basketball earned crucial road victory over Kalamazoo

KALAMAZOO - The Hope College men's basketball team bounced back from its loss at Trine to earn a road win at Kalamazoo.

The Flying Dutchmen defeated the Hornets 76-66 on Saturday. Hope improved to 15-6 overall and 7-3 in the MIAA.

The game was tied 39-39 at halftime before Hope took control in the second half to earn the MIAA victory. Hope went up 69-53 with 7:04 to go in the game.

Hope's Tanner Wiegerink scored 19 points and grabbed seven rebounds, while Marcus Wourman and TJ McKenzie each added 11. Clayton Dykhouse scored 10 and Gabe Quillan had nine points and nine rebounds.

Hope shot 47.5% for the game. Kalamazoo shot 35% but kept the game close by winning the rebounding battle 39-38 and getting to the free-throw line, where the Hornets went 17-for-24.

Kalamazoo dropped to 9-12 and 3-7 in the MIAA.
