'Holy Yotes!' Twitter celebrates South Dakota stunning No. 2 Baylor to advance to Sweet 16
The South Dakota Coyotes are heading to the Sweet 16.
USD beat Baylor 61-47 on Sunday night in Waco, Texas, stunning the college basketball world but not really surprising South Dakota fans who've followed them all season.
The Coyotes were a 14-point underdog entering the game, according to one sports gambling site.
Here's how Twitter reacted.
IT'S OVER‼️
Baylor's run of 12 straight Sweet 16s is ended by South Dakota, who advances to the round for the first time EVER! pic.twitter.com/Sl8xBFCV5a— espnW (@espnW) March 21, 2022
South Dakota has NO IDEA how lucky we are to have the talented girl's/women's basketball programs in this area. @GoJacksWBB blew out Minnesota and @SDCoyotesWBB blew out a perennial power on the big stage. That's a BIG DEAL.

I didn't have "South Dakota beating Baylor by double digits" on my 2022 March Madness bingo card, that's for sure. https://t.co/UTv0M7JeeC

Let me keep adding to my thread!
South Dakota, out of the Summit League and now 29-5, received a #10 Seed and has now upset both #7 Ole Miss and #2 Baylor to advance to the Sweet 16!#RespectMidMajors #MarchMadness— Kim Adams (@Kim_Adams1) March 21, 2022
Holy 'Yotes.
South Dakota upsets Baylor 61-47. Coyotes were the more aggressive team from tip off. Baylor seemed dazed, not really exerting any sense of urgency until far too late.— Chantel Jennings (@ChantelJennings) March 21, 2022
Every time the graphic pops up that says South Dakota hasn’t trailed this tournament I do a double take.
Talk about dominant. And to do it against Baylor?! The Coyotes are the real deal. @SDCoyotesWBB— Eden Laase-Derouin (@eden_laase) March 20, 2022
That group has been through some brutal lows, from the runner-up finishes to State, the tournament snubs and, of course, COVID. So to see this — and to pull it off with those three seniors on the roster — unbelievable.
This damn team, y’all. ❤️🤍— hank 🇰🇷 (@Brian_Haenchen) March 21, 2022
South Dakota is ripping up my bracket, throwing it into the garbage, and lighting it on fire. I love it! Let’s go!

The fact that South Dakota has held 2 all Americans and 2 top 5 draft pics to under their average

The University of South Dakota Women’s basketball team trounces the Baylor Bears. Go Coyotes https://t.co/9rneMDXcrG

Glad to see South Dakota upset Baylor. Summit League could have been a 2 bid league had it not been for SDSU’s terrible injury luck. Another case of a mid-major school getting seeded far lower than they should have…

A. Congrats to South Dakota, that's awesome
B. Tell me again how there's no parity or upsets in the women's tournament? https://t.co/DWSVcStqso— Andrew Schnittker (@aschnitt53) March 21, 2022
A win has never tasted so sweet. Our @SDCoyotesWBB team demonstrated grit, determination and discipline tonight, and we could not be more proud. On to the Sweet 16! https://t.co/OzK2wcTpTR
