Holland Christian swims to title at prestigious D3 Invitational

HOLLAND - The Holland Christian girls swimming and diving team won the D3 Invitational on Saturday at Holland Community Aquatic Center.

The annual meet showcases many of the top teams in the state in Division 3.

The Maroons scored 315 points to win the meet, followed by Allegan (306), Unity Christian (297), Grand Rapids Christian (292), Chelsea (277.5), Hamilton (267), Spring Lake (190), Ludington (148), Otsego (112), Plainwell (90.5) and Tecumseh (30).

Holland Christian's Camryn Siegers won the 200-yard freestyle in 1:56.71. The freshman also won the 500 freestyle (5:10.49).

Holland Christian senior Maria Heeres won the 100 frestyle in 55.94. Heeres also took second in the 50 freestyle (25.55).

Heeres, Eden Siegers, Ruthie Ryden and Camryn Siegers won the 400 freestyle relay (3:44.62).

Camryn Siegers, Eden Siegers, Ryden and Heeres too second in the 200 medley relay (1:53.28).

Sadie DuBois took third in diving (351.25 points). Ryden took third in the 200 IM (2:20.34) and the 100 backstroke (1:04.00).

Hamilton's Adaline Garvelink took third in the 100 breaststroke (1:12.94). Alyssa Volkers took fourth in the 200 IM (2:20.85). Layla Winklepeck was fourth in diving (331.75).
