For the third season in a row, St. Edward and Hoban square off in a Week 10 matchup that writes itself.

It’s Week 10, and there are so many storylines you’d think you were in a Hollywood studio in terms of Greater Akron football.

Obviously, there’s a gigantic game between St. Edward and Hoban.

There’s also league titles on the line in three area games, but we’d be remiss if we didn’t at least mention two other games that didn’t make our top five preview.

Ravenna (3-6, 3-3) heads to Norton (9-0, 6-0) as the Panthers look for their second undefeated regular season in three years and third straight 10-win season.

CVCA (7-2, 5-1) travels to Manchester (1-8, 1-5) to close James R. France Stadium forever.

Here are the heavy hitters this week:

St. Edward (8-1) at Hoban (8-0), 7 p.m. Friday

Hoban running back Brayton Feister scores a touchdown against Glenville during the first half Oct. 6 in Akron.
Hoban running back Brayton Feister scores a touchdown against Glenville during the first half Oct. 6 in Akron.

Usually, this goes in alphabetical order, but this one is too big not to put at the top.

Hoban has already clinched the top seed in Division II, Region 5.

St. Edward has clinched a top-four spot in Division I, Region 1.

The Knights have six defensive players either headed to or being recruited by Division I program.

St. Edward counters with defensive lineman Troy Regovich (Northwestern) and Loghan Thomas (Notre Dame).

William Satterwhite (Tennessee) anchors Hoban’s offensive line. Ben Roebuck (Michigan) complements Deontae and Devontae Armstrong (both Ohio State) for the Eagles, who have eight overall Division I commits.

This is the fourth season in a row that Hoban and St. Edward meet. The Knights opened the series with a 35-0 win but have lost the last two 41-20 and 28-17. Hoban holds an 8-4 series edge.

It’s the only regular-season game this season in which representatives of the last two state finals face each other.

Casey Bullock (67-of-105 passing, 1,026 yards, nine TDs, eight interceptions) and Brandon White (109 carries, 721 yards, eight TDs) are the main threats for the Eagles. Kyan Mason, Brian Sullivan and Zack Hackleman all have 300-plus yard seasons receiving and a combined eight touchdowns.

Caleb Jones (104 carries, 706 yards, 13) runs things for Hoban, but is day to day with an injury sustained in Week 9’s win over St. Francis (NY). Brayton Feister (65, 467, seven) is more than capable of taking over like he did last week in a 192-yard showing that included two touchdowns.

Tylan Boykin (50-of-74 passing, 658 yards, eight TDs; 23 carries, 282 yards, two TDs) leads the offense.

Aurora (8-1, 6-0) at Highland (8-1, 6-0), 7 p.m. Friday

Highland loves to run, but will have a tall task against an Aurora defense built to stop the rush this week.

This one is for the Suburban League American Conference. The Greenmen own a 4-3 edge since joining the SL, but the Hornets have won the last two and three of the last four.

Highland has scored 56 points more against common opponents, but Aurora has given up five points less.

The Hornets are paced by Casey Myser (94 carries, 852 yards, 18 TDs), Peyton Janickas (46-of-73 passing, 732 yards, eight TDs; 87 carries, 522 yards, seven TDs) and Matt Ciryak (16 catches, 331 yards, five TDs).

The Hornets defense allows 93.4 yards rushing per game and 208.6 yards per game.

The Greenmen’s defense allows 85.0 yards rushing per game and 216.0 yards per game.

Aurora has standouts in Enzo Catania (108 carries, 769 yards, 12 TDs) and Brandon Liepins (70-of-114 passing, 1,112 yards, 10 TDs; 33 carries, 105 yards, five TDs).

Catania was hurt in Week 9’s win over Barberton and is day to day. Lucas Manderbach will get the nod if Catania can’t go. Manderbach ran for 132 yards and a score in the win over the Magics.

Highland is third in Division II, Region 6 and can clinch a top-four spot with a win. Aurora is third in Division III, Region 9 and can do the same.

Mogadore (7-2, 3-0) at Rootstown (8-0, 3-0), 7 p.m. Friday

Rootstown running back Dawson Morgan will be Mogadore's main focus this week in a Portage Trail Conference meeting.

Zeke Cameron and Corey Lehner are the names to watch for Mogadore.

Nordonia (7-2, 3-2) at Brecksville (5-4, 2-3), 7 p.m. Friday

Defense is once again sound for Nordonia as it enters Week 10.

The Knights are fifth in Division II, Region 5 and can go as high as fourth and as low as seventh after this week.

The Bees are ninth in the same region and could go as high as fourth with a win and possibly fall out with a loss. Brecksville has won two games in a row since Weeks 1 and 2 but haven’t lost two times in a row. It’s coming off a 21-0 defeat last week to Twinsburg.

Asher Wilson (six sacks), Vince Hack (three), Jordan Jackson (two-and-a-half), Ben Bollas (two), Caleb Aiken (two) and Ryan Athen (two) lead a defense that averages just under three sacks per game for Nordonia. Owen Smotek (three interceptions) and Israel Petite (three) also headline a defense with 11 picks this season.
