Record-setter at Archies: South Shore high school top performers (Oct. 30-Nov. 3)

It's almost tournament time.

High school volleyball teams began the week awaiting their tournament matchups. Some high school soccer teams had one last tournament tune-up to play Monday afternoon, as the MIAA will release the brackets on Wednesday.

Saturday

FIELD HOCKEY

In Notre Dame Academy's 3-0 win over Agawam in the Div. 3 Round of 32, Kate Burke scored a pair of second-half goals.

GIRLS SOCCER

Coach Britt Sellmayer recorded his 450th career win with Oliver Ames' 5-1 triumph over Ludlow in the Div. 2 Round of 32. Laney Carroll tallied two goals in the win. Lucinda Li Cotter, Siena Fabrizio and Lynn Elhayek all had goals in the win.

Friday

GIRLS SOCCER

Archbishop Williams' Maeve White scored her 88th career goal to become the program's all-time leading scorer in an 8-1 win over Boston Latin Academy in the Div. 3 state tournament. Archies plays No. 12 Apponequet in the next round.

In Whitman-Hanson's 1-0 win over Dartmouth in the Div. 2 first round, Makenna Marshall scored the lone goal off a free kick with 17 minutes remaining. Brooke McAloney, Savannah Kamperides, Lexi Cole and Brooke Bell played well defensively in front of goalkeeper Ayla Dernier (7 saves). The Panthers will play either No. 1 Masconomet (15-0-2) or No. 32 Somerset Berkley (11-6-2) in the next round.

Blue Hills (19-0-2) defeated Westfield on penalty kicks after a scoreless preliminary round game to move on in the Div. 4 state tournament. Ally Johnson recoded her 12th shutout of the season and made key saves in the shootout. Alexis D'Arcy and Rose Ferguson converted in PKs before Kathleen Murphy scored the deciding goal in the fifth round. Blue Hills advances to face No. 5 Hamilton-Wenham (13-0-3) in the Round of 32.

East Bridgewater defeated No. 40 Greater Lowell, 5-0, behind two goals from senior Calice Morton. Senior Rachel Rinker, freshman Lauren Dona, and eighth-grader Ari Cofran each added one goal. The No. 25 Vikings will play No. 8 Tantasqua in the Div. 3 Sweet Sixteen on Monday at 5 p.m.

In Plymouth's win in PKs over Cambridge Rindge & Latin in the Div. 1 preliminary-round, goalkeeper Amelia Finley was stellar. She made two saves during kicks and didn't allow a goal during regulation or overtime. Sophie Vagnini tallied the winning PK goal.

BOYS SOCCER

Plymouth North rallied from a 2-0 deficit to force overtime before ultimately falling to Lexington, 3-2. Josh Murray and Pat Moore scored two goals in the final three minutes of regulation.

VOLLEYBALL

In Notre Dame Academy's 3-1 win over Woburn (18-25 25-23 25-22 25-15), senior Liv Flaherty led the No. 14 Cougars with 23 kills, 3 aces and 5 digs. The cast of Kat Nunnery (3 kills), Caroline Hartnett (8 kills) Mal McCarthy (100 percent serving, 2 aces) Ava Orlando (5 aces, 13 digs), Sofia Danick (27 assists) and Liv Mainville (12 digs) played well for NDA, which will face No. 3 Canton in the Div. 2 Sweet Sixteen (away, Nov. 7, 7 p.m.)

Canton's Jess Wright (20 kills) and Sally Hoban (10 kills) led the way in the No. 3 Bulldogs' sweep of No. 30 Milton. Kaitlin Bigham (4 kills) Fatima Sidibay (4 kills), Erin Bigham (36 assists, 2 blocks, 4 digs and 2 aces), and the trio of Soley Rodriguez Martinez, Zoe Scibelli and Kelly Schiavo (24 digs and 12 aces combined) also shined in the win. Canton will play host to No. 14 Notre Dame Academy in the Sweet Sixteen on Nov. 7 at 7 p.m.

Thursday

FIELD HOCKEY

Hanover's Mae Buchanan scored twice, and Sam Baker added a goal as the 22nd-seeded Hawks upset No. 11 Notre Dame Academy-Worcester, 3-1, in the first round of the Div. 3 state playoffs. McKenzie Foley's 25-yard hit in the first quarter set up Buchanan's first goal. Senior goalkeeper Olivia Campo made 12 saves for Hanover (11-6-2), which plays either No. 6 Falmouth or No. 27 Wilmington in the Round of 16.

Norwell's Bella Burns scored twice, and Mia Marsh added a goal as the 31st-seeded Clippers knocked off No. 34 Blackstone Valley, 3-0, in a Div. 3 preliminary round game. Norwell (9-7-3) will play a first-round game at No. 2 Newburyport (17-1) on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.

Marshfield goalkeeper Aubrey Finn made 21 saves, but the 32nd-seeded Rams fell to No. 1 Walpole, 6-0, in the first round of the Div. 1 playoffs. Marshfield finishes with a record of 4-5-8.

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

Oliver Ames' Claire O’Rourke had 16 kills and 13 digs in a 3-0 win (25-18, 25-18, 25-19) over No. 25 Minnechaug in the first round of the Div. 2 playoffs. Sarah Hilliard (15 kills), Clare Kavolius (35 assists) and Addyson Smock (10 kills) also starred for No. 8 OA (16-5), which will play No. 9 Dartmouth (17-4) in the Round of 16.

East Bridgewater's Amya Oliveira, Ayla Kingman, Adriana Amicangioli and Paige Pavidis starred as the Vikings blanked Tri-County, 3-0, in the first round of the Div. 4 tournament for the first playoff win in program history. No. 12 EB (14-6) will play either No. 5 Wahconah Regional (17-3) or No. 28 Stoneham (3-18) in the Round of 16.

North Quincy's Ava Bryan had 10 kills and 15 digs in a 3-1 win (25-16, 26-28, 25-12, 25-19) over No. 23 Nashoba Regional in the first round of the Div. 2 playoffs. Also starring for the Raiders: Sadie Johnston (35 assists, 12 digs), Bella McKenzie (9 aces, 15 digs), Autumn O'Campos (13 kills, 4 blocks) and Brooklynn Rizzo (11 kills, 16 digs). Tenth-seeded NQ (17-4) will play either No. 7 Hopkinton (13-5) or No. 26 Westwood (7-10) in the Round of 16.

Wednesday

VOLLEYBALL

Whitman-Hanson junior Hazel Crew had 10 kills, and junior captain Caroline Gray added 7 kills and an ace, but the 13th-seeded Panthers (15-6) fell to No. 20 Reading (11-10) by a 3-0 score (25-16, 25-19, 25-21) in the first round of the Div. 2 state playoffs. Senior captain Riley Codero (19 digs) and junior Andrew Mulligan (4 blocks) also starred for W-H.

Sumner Harris (26 assists, 6 kills, 3 aces) led Scituate to its first tournament win in program history with a 3-0 triumph over South Community High. Anna Bradley (9 kills), Lauren Thompson (10 kills, 3 aces), Anna Bradley (9 kills, 3 blocks) and Matilda Grant (17 digs, 2 aces) also played well.

Tuesday

BOYS GOLF

Milton's Johnny Gillooly tied for sixth overall individually, and Duxbury placed fourth in team scoring at the Div. 2 state championships at Thorny Lea Golf Club in Brockton.

Gillooly shot 6-over-par 76 to finish in a four-way tie for sixth.

Duxbury's score of 326 left the Dragons behind only winner Dover-Sherborn (314), runner-up Bishop Stang (316) and third-place Westwood (322). The Dragons' four scorers were Mike Yucius (10th, 7-over 77), Owen Hamilton (T-11th, 8-over 78), Anthony Rabeni (T-39th, 15-over 85) and Matt NeJame (T-47th, 16-over 86).

Scituate's Luke Ryan tied for 32nd at 13-over 83. Dover-Sherborn's Charlie Potter was medalist with a 1-over 71.

At the Div. 1 state championships at Greathorse Country Club in Hampden, Hingham finished in a tie for fifth with a score of 318. Hingham's Carson Erick was part of a four-way tie for third at 3-over 75. Teammate Drew Golden tied for 23rd at 7-over 79. Hingham's other scorers were J.D. Flynn and Brad Lee, who tied for 38th at 10-over 82.

BC High's Charlie Fearing tied for 42nd at 11-over 83, and teammate J.J. Campbell tied for 49th at 12-over 84. Longmeadow's Ryan Downes was medalist at 4-under 68. St. John's-Shrewsbury won the team crown (303), followed by St. John's Prep (314), Xaverian (315) and Wellesley (316).

At the Div. 3 state championships at Sterling National Country Club, East Bridgewater finished ninth in team scoring (358), led by Cole Redder (T-8th, 10-over 81) and Matt Werra (T-27th, 14-over 85). EB's Ryan Barrett and Mike Hauter tied for 66th by shooting 96. Weston won the team crown (322), and Jack Carstensen of St. John Paul II was medalist at 3-over 74.

Monday

BOYS SOCCER

Pembroke's Quinn Reilly (2) and Wil McManus scored as the Titans defeated Marshfield, 3-0. Jack Duperre, Matt McAuliffe and Shane Crowley came up with assists. Keeper Jack Eva posted the shutout for the Titans (14-2-1).

Plymouth North goal-scorers Francis Amani (2), Josh Murray, Lucas Magalhaes and Miguel Olivera made their mark in a 5-1 win over Quincy. Murray, Jack Corby, Drew Healy, Colin Riley Perec and Christian Mahoney picked up assists.

Abington's Iury Cassemiro (2), Aiden Grafton and Liam Murtagh found the back of the net in a 4-1 win over Whitman-Hanson. Max Lindo, Enzo de Souza and Richard Galvao each picked up assists.

Rockland's Noah Jordan and João Faria scored as the Bulldogs tied New Bedford, 2-2. Rockland finishes with a 11-6-1 record.

West Bridgewater eighth-grader Dylan Spadea had 3 goals and an assist to led the way in a 6-0 win over Carver. Sophomore Aiden Mussari, senior Noah Schneeweis and senior Derek Cashman also scored. Freshman goalkeeper Ben Stapleton had his fifth shutout of the season for the Wildcats (5-12-3).

Hingham's Christopher Connelly scored twice in a 5-0 win over Catholic Memorial. Nick Oravitz and Colin Burke each had a goal and an assist, and Alessandro Neyra also found the net for the Harbormen (17-1). Mason Lemieux (2 assists) and goalkeeper Jake Riker also played well.

Southeastern's Alvaro Alves Correia, Caio Fernandes and Brian Breder scored in a 3-1 win over Bridgewater-Raynham. Christyan Marques had a pair of assists for the Hawks (12-2-3), who will play top-ranked Blackstone Valley in Tuesday's first round of the statewide voke tournament before beginning the MIAA playoffs later in the week.

GIRLS SOCCER

Archbishop Williams junior Maeve White scored the 87th goal of her career to tie the program's scoring record, as the Bishops defeated Brockton, 3-0.

Goal-scorers Emma Pero and Mary Heffernan led Cardinal Spellman to a 2-2 draw against Weston. Grace Foster and Abi Clark each tallied an assist, and Erin O’Donnell played well in the midfield. The Cardinals finish the regular season at 15-1-2.

Abington's Jill Groom and Ella Williamson recorded goals in a 2-1 win over Bedford. Rylee Nowlan recorded an assist and keeper Molly Joyce played well in net.

Hull junior Fallon Ryan scored two goals in a 3-0 win over Rockland. Junior Elly Thomas scored one goal, and senior Veronica Fleming and freshman Meghan Duran each tallied an assist. Sophomore keeper Montana Alibrandi earned the shutout in goal for the Pirates (13-2-2, 9-2-2 South Shore League).

Norwell's Kelsey Tuttle scored the lone goal in a 1-0 win over Duxbury. Senior goalkeeper Belle Pettit posted her 16th shutout of the season for the Clippers (18-1-1), thanks to strong defensive work from Smilla Spasic and Eden Wheeler.

Plymouth North's Avery Curtis scored twice, and Makenna Foley added a goal in a 3-0 win over Quincy. Goalkeeper Amelia Finley posted the shutout, and Elise Majka, Darby Mento and Tess Driscoll were defensive standouts.

Southeastern's Agapi Kouvlis and Paige Crockett each scored twice in a 7-1 win over South Shore Charter. Lucy Calabrese, Kelsea Doherty and Jesse Cronin added goals for the Hawks.
