Highlights: Warriors’ James Wiseman hits career-high 30 points in loss vs. Nets

Without players like Steph Curry (shoulder), Andrew Wiggins (adductor) and Klay Thompson (rest), it wasn’t pretty for the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday against Kevin Durant and the Brooklyn Nets.

With Steve Kerr’s rotation shorthanded and the Nets surging toward a significant lead, Golden State’s young core of players got an opportunity for extended minutes.

James Wiseman took advantage.

Despite the Warriors’ blowout loss, the former No. 2 overall pick recorded a new career-high in scoring. Wiseman led the game with 30 points on 12-of-14 shooting from the field in 28 minutes off the bench against the Nets. The Memphis product even showed off his long-distance shooting, drilling his lone attempt from beyond the arc. Wiseman added six boards, two assists and a block on Wednesday night during his career-high performance.

Prior to Wednesday evening, Wiseman has only notched over 20 points twice in his young career. As a rookie, Wiseman recorded games with 25 and 20 points.

Following his strong performance against the Nets, Wiseman could continue to carve out a role in Kerr’s rotation while the Warriors deal with several players missing time due to injury.

In 16 games in the NBA with the Warriors in 2022-23, Wiseman is averaging 7.4 points on 61.8% shooting from the field with 3.6 rebounds in 13.5 minutes per contest.
