Highlights from Thursday's area American Legion baseball games for Watertown and Aberdeen

OMAHA, Neb. — Fargo (N.D.) Post 2 improved to 18-1 with an 8-3 American Legion Baseball win over Watertown Post 17 in the Creighton Prep Tournament on Thursday.

Fargo grabbed control with four runs in the bottom of the second inning and three more in the fourth.

Jordan Leininger earned the win on the mound for the win and Adam Leininger smacked two doubles.

Ryan Roby and Jack Heesch each had two of Post 17's seven hits. Heesch plated two runs. Jackson Maag took the loss.

The tourney continues through Sunday.

Sisseton 4-5, Big Stone City 11-4

SISSETON — Sisseton and Big Stone City traded wins in an American Legion Baseball doubleheader on Thursday.

Josh Mueller drove in four runs with two hits and also fanned 10 batters in five innings to lead Big Stone (4-5) to victory in the opener. Carter Lee added a double and two singles and Ellis Longnecker a double and a single.

Julius Cloud clubbed a triple and Cayden Kohl a double for Sisseton.

In the second game, Boe Iverson had two hits and joined Carter Metz and Nate Tasa with doubles for Sisseton. Landyn Steichen earned the win.

Kirby Olson took the loss for Big Stone, which had five singles. The Badgers host Milbank on Tuesday.

Hamlin 16U 12, Garretson 16U 3

GARRETSON — Watson Grantham fired a two-hitter with nine strikeouts to help Hamlin (1-11) break into the win column in the 16U game.

Ted Smith produced three hits and Grantham, Riggs Prouty, Gavin Maag and Jacob Williams two each for Hamlin, which hosts Madison Gold at 10 a.m. and Dell Rapids at noon on Saturday in Bryant.

Pierre 16U 9-13, Mobridge-Pollock 3-3

PIERRE — Pierre swept the doubleheader on Thursday against Mobridge-Pollock's Legion team.

The losses dropped Mobridge-Pollock to 0-8.

Easton Eisemann, Mack Saxon and Peter Fried each had two hits for Mobridge-Pollock in the opener. Eisemann and Saxson hit doubles.

Taylon Carmody, who doubled, and Holden Eisemann each finished two hits in the second game for Mobridge-Pollock, which visits the Aberdeen Smittys 16U team on Saturday.
