High school soccer report: District action starts to heat up for the Austin area

District soccer action is starting to heat up for high schools across the Austin area.

Boys

(Friday results)

Westlake 3, Dripping Springs 2: Henry West, Dylan Holm and William Fagerberg scored for the Chaps with Christian Mazas providing two assists. Parker Johnson had a brace for the Tigers.

Bowie 6, Johnson 0: Chase Benavides and Lennon Bres both scored twice and Griffin Crawley and Fritz Del Negro tallied the other goals for the Bulldogs. Jake Ciccarello had an impressive three assists, while Del Negro, Xander Pratt, Rowen Wells also had assists. Blaze Hatchett recorded the shutout.

Vista Ridge 5, Westwood 2: Lucas Henriques, Cyrus Keah, Chet Krushefski, Yaseen Salman and Omar Erwa scored to lead the Rangers, who improved to 3-0 in District 25-6A. Arthur Santos, Cyrs Keah, Erwa and J Mossholder had assists, with Mossholder having two.

Vandegrift 2, McNeil 1: Emmy Aranda had a brace and James Hehman provided an assist for the Vipers.

Stony Point 5, Cedar Ridge 0: Alexis Salgado, Colton Lee, Karl Jeremiah Theagene, Salahadin El-Azzami and Drew Nicholson found the net for the Tigers with Andrew Lopez and Daniel Sawyer combining for the clean sheet.

Weiss 3, Harker Heights 0: The Wolves opened their District 12-6A defense with win thanks to two goals and an assist fom Cody Urquiza and a goal by Sergio Gomez. Josh Valenzuela and Eli Walkup had the other assists. Julleanh Ontiveros provided the shutout in goal.

East View 2, Cedar Creek 0: Javier Torres and Hector Morales scored on assists from Serjio Maldonado and Eymard Diaz as the Patriots improved to 5-2-2 overall and 2-0 in District 25-5A. Adrian Leonides and Edwin Morales combined for the shutout.

Connally 2, Elgin 1: Lawrence Doe scored off a pass from Shehram Hayatullah and Jacob O’Neal converted a penalty for the Cougars in the win. Jose Raul Ramirez scored on a pass from Guillermo Hernandez for the Wildcats.

Georgetown 2, Pflugerville 1: Martin Valdes and J.J. Carrillo Jr. found the net for the Eagles off Benni Ponce’s two assists. Emmanuel Castelan scored for the Panthers.

Rouse 1, Liberty Hill 0: Joseph Reyes scored the game-winner and Grant Simmons had the clean sheet for the Raiders.

Glenn 4, Lockhart 0: Tito Don Juan had a goal and two assists, John Gomez recorded a goal and assist and both Vince Rodriguez and Colton Clement found the net for the Grizzlies. Keller Marchant provided the shutout in goal.

McCallum 3, LBJ 1: Gus Ehlers scored twice and Austin Gourrier found the net once for the Knights, with Dash Levy and Ben Pitts-Bermudez recording assists.

LASA 6, Crockett 1: Graham Gilbert had a hat trick, Yohannes Heineman had a brace and Kiran Kini found the net for the Raptors. Assists came from Ishan Bhavsar, Heineman, Juan Pizano and Angel Ramirez.

Northeast 3, Travis 0: Augustine Bitomwa scored two goals and Roger Amador had an assist for the Raiders, who received a clean sheet from Gerson Dominguez.

Girls

(results from last week)

Ann Richards blanked Travis 7-0 as Becky Madrid and Isabella Farias had two goals each while solo goals were scored by Mia Kimmell, Mia Cazares, and Galilea Castelan.

Amelia Griffin scored three goals and an assist to lead Burnet past Austin Achieve 7-0. Kaycie Banton added two goals and two assists while Ari Chavez had a goal and an assist. Taylor Petty added a goal. Burnet stayed hot by beating Florence 3-0 as Kaycie Banton had two goals. Griffin scored a goal and had an assist.

Leander blanked Rouse 1-0 in a matchup of two of the top teams in the district from last year as Kylie Bernal scored for the Lions on an assist from Sadie Guzman.

Cedar Park opened district with a 1-0 win over Liberty Hill on a goal by Meredith Koltz. The Timberwolves followed up by beating Lehman 9-0.

Alexis Montgomery scored four goals and added three assists as Round Rock defeated Manor 10-0. The Dragons added solo goals by: A.J. Mayock, Carlee Deegan, Kayla Peter, Grace El Deir, Kaiya Bullock, and Zoe Dick.

Breckyn Ferrell and Kayla Gibbons both scored as Lake Travis edged Anderson 2-1.

Anderson beat Westlake 3-2 earlier in the week on goals by Gracie Ruthven, Neve Chachanashvii and Jessica Greenway.

Lauren Hill scored four goals and Laney Kalsu scored on a 50-yard free kick as St. Michael’s defeated KIPP Brave Collegiate 7-0. Julie Leger and Gabi Webb also scored for St. Michael’s while Merritt Lane had the shutout in goal.

Vandegrift blasted Manor 7-0 as Sierra Ache, Dani Britva, Nala Macherey, Ella Shahinian, Peyton Arnaud, Brooke Cansler, and Eva Pensamiento scored.

Tori Phillips and Emie Benson had two goals each and both Amy Fangman and Lola Powell netted goals as Georgetown blanked Connally 6-0. Benson and Finley Newell both scored as the Eagles blanked Pflugerville 2-0.

Eight Central Texas Schools are ranked in the TGCA state polls: Giddings (4th in 4A), Florence (23rd in 4A), Leander (3rd in 5A), Georgetown (6th in 5A), Cedar Park (9th in 5A), Ann Richards (19th in 5A), LASA (22nd in 5A), McCallum (25th in 5A), Round Rock (6th in 6A), Lake Travis (16th in 6A), Westwood (17th in 6A) and Anderson (22nd in 6A).
