HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP: St. John Paul II girls soccer wins 12th straight

The St. John Paul II girls soccer team claimed its 12th consecutive win of the season with a 9-0 victory over Barnstable, behind a pair of hat tricks on Tuesday. Ella Cheney scored three of the Lions (14-2-1) first four goals for her hat trick, and Devin Crofford had her hat trick in the second half, helping the Lions extend their lead. Joining them on the scoresheet were Marlo Jumper, and Raegan Dillon, who added her 16th goal of the season. The loss drops the Red Hawks to 0-15-2.

Girls Soccer

Nantucket 6, Falmouth Academy 0: The Whalers improve to 7-8 on the year, while the Mariners drop to 7-8.

Cape Cod Academy 8, Cape Tech 0: Jenna Marsh had a hat trick, and an assist, to lead the Seahawks (6-8-1) past the Crusaders (0-14-1). Taylor Bodurtha had a pair of goals, and Lili Shanahan had a goal and an assist. Lydia Stanney and Molly Lowery both added goals as well.

Mashpee 5, Sturgis West 2: Addisyn Cannistraro-Carroll, Izzadora Almeida, Hailey Garcia, Aryanna Lee and Moya Williams all scored goals to lead the Falcons (5-11). Norah Paolini made five saves for Mashpee in the win. Sturgis West drops to 6-7-1.

Martha's Vineyard 2, Monomoy 2: Karah Deveau found Kiki Pigo Cronin for the Sharks' (11-4-2) first goal, and Karlie Monteiro scored the second. Talia Maccaferri scored both goals, and Eleanor Mone added an assist for the Vineyarders (9-5-2)

Falmouth 0, Sturgis West 0: The Clippers (6-7-3) tied with the Navigators (6-7-1).

Nauset 8, Dennis-Yarmouth 0: The Warriors improve to 12-2-1, while Dennis-Yarmouth falls to 5-9-2.

Upper Cape 1, South Shore Tech 1: Adryanna Turner scored the lone goal for the Rams (9-5-2), while Kiera Hibbert made her debut in net with starter Hayley King injured. Meghan Holt, Ruth Alexander, and Rachel Curran all played well.

Boys Soccer

Barnstable 4, St. John Paul II 3: THe Red Hawks (8-3-5) scored with five minutes left in the second half to come out on top of a back-and-forth game against the Lions (7-5-3). Jose Aguilar scored twice for St. John Paul II, and Nico Sullivan added the third.

Monomoy 1, Martha's Vineyard 1: The Sharks (11-3-3) and Vineyarders (6-7-3) shared the points.

Cape Tech 4, Cape Cod Academy 0: Jace Clady's hat trick helped lead the Crusaders (7-9-3) to the win over the Seahawks (1-13) in their regular season finale. Joao Pinheiro added the fourth goal, and Gabriel Martins, Daniel Colares, and Connor Gibson all had an assist.

Nantucket 5, Falmouth Academy 0: Elvis Alonzo and Jake Johnson both had a pair of goals to lead the Whalers (9-3-3) over the Mariners (7-5-3). Alex Ivalov had a clean sheet in goal, and Andre Barrett added the fifth goal for Nantucket.

Falmouth 7, Sturgis West 1: The win takes the Clippers to 4-9-3. Sturgis West drops to 1-12-1.

Nauset 3, Dennis-Yarmouth 0: Charlie Cushing scored twice to help the Warriors improve to 9-3-3 on the year. Salvi Cacciola had the third goal, which was set up by Aiden Brown, and Riley Meehan added an assist. Dominic Bebber had the clean sheet in goal. The Dolphins fall to 5-9-2.

Field Hockey

Sandwich 5, Cohasset 0: The Sandwich field hockey team claimed the South Shore League title after shutting out Cohasset, and improving to 15-0-1. Alivia Barnes scored twice, Quinn Jordan and Sadie Clarkin each had a goal and an assist, and Meghan Dwyer added a goal.

Nantucket 5, Westport 0: The win takes Nantucket to 8-4-3.

Falmouth Field Hockey: From the ice to the field: Avery Johnsen's love of hockey brings success to Falmouth

Falmouth 3, Notre Dame Academy-Hingham 2: The Clippers improve to 10-4-3 behind two goals from Avery Johnsen, and the winner from Makenna Metcalf.

Norwell 8, Mashpee 0: Ayesha Shafi made 31 saves in the loss for the Falcons (2-12-1).

Volleyball

Barnstable 3, Hopkington 1: Logan Hurwitz recorded her 600th career dig, finishing with seven on the night, as the Red Hawks (16-2) picked up the win (25-14, 21-25, 25-18, 25-21). Sadie Wellbeloved had 40 assists, 15 of which were killed by Molly Fredo. Charlotte Sullivan, Molly Gleason, and Alyssa McDowell added eight kills apiece, and Gleason added 13 digs.

East Bridgewater 3, Sandwich 0: The Blue Knights were swept and fall to 8-8.

Mashpee 3, Carver 0: The Falcons got the sweep (25-14, 26-24,25-16) to improve to 8-9 on the year. Dahlia Locke, Ava Pina, Loc Phu, and Stacey Santos all played well for Mashpee in the win.

St. John Paul II 3, Upper Cape 0: Charlotte Sturgis had a team high eight kills to lead the Lions (11-6) to the sweep (25-7, 25-16, 25-19). Zlata Alioshka led the Lions with 10 assists and four aces, and Molly Pulit had 10 kills. The loss drops Upper Cape to 0-17.

Cross Country

The Cape Cod Academy girls cross country team completed an undefeated 8-0 season by beating Strugis West, and claiming the Cape and Islands League Championship. The win is the Seahawks 21st in a row.

Sandwich 20, Mashpee 41: Sophomore Jake Saunders led the Falcons in the loss in third place with a personal record of 17:19, two seconds behind first place. Seventh grader Grey Auger placed fifth with a PR of 18:50.

Sandwich 25, Mashpee 33: Eighth grader Anna Jansen won the race in 22:05 (PR) for the Falcons. Senior Piper Milde finished second with a time of 22:07 (PR), while seventh graders Ava Mangold brought her pervious time of 29:03 down to 25:32 for Mashpee.
