High School Roundup: Scores and recaps from Thursday night's basketball games

BOYS BASKETBALL

Division I

Barrington 66, Portsmouth 59

Nick Scandura was basically unstoppable as he poured in 32 points and teammate Matt Raffa knocked down 18 as Barrington got by Portsmouth in a spirited battle. The Patriots answered the Eagles' top scorers with Kyle Bielawa scoring 31 points with 6 treys and Adam Conheeny with 19 points but didn't get the support from the rest of the team as Barrington did.

Hendricken 53, Mount Pleasant 41

Matt D'Ambra poured in 18 points and James Caldarella and William Mascena each scored 13 to help the the Hawks upend the Kilties. Leading the way for MP were Domingo Qualls with 11 points. Right behind him was Carlos Cabrera, who was good for 10 points.

Central 70, Cranston East 59

Elijah Reed scored 17 points and Carlos Lopez added 14 as the Knights upended the Thunderbolt. For the East, Al Kesse scored a game-high 27 in the loss.

Narragansett 64, Westerly 48

Owen Degnan led all scorers with 23 points, Jackson Hohl added 12 and Aidan Clancey had 10 as the Mariners improved to 6-8. Andrew Peatee led the Bulldogs (4-11) with 13 in the loss.

Division II

South Kingstown 81, Toll Gate 57

James Wilson scored 20 points, Griffin Ford chipped in with 16, Ian McIntyre added 15 and Derek Moffat scored 7 and grabbed 10 rebounds in the Rebels' win over Toll Gate. Dylan Perreault of the Titans scored 21 in the loss and teammate Jack Colvin had 17.

St. Raphael's 53, Pilgrim 39

What had been a tight contest for most of the night loosened up in the fourth quarter when the Saints outscored the Patriots, 19-9, to notch their 12th win in Division II play. Jay-Den Matos led all scorers with 19 points and Zerek Johnson added 17. For Pilgrim (7-6), Carter Clifton scored 16 and Dylan Vale had 10 in the loss.

Tiverton 54, Times2 Academy 31

The Tigers' Elliot Pasquale netted a game-high 28 points as Tiverton improved to 2-12 in league play. Times2 slips to 2-11 with the loss.

Johnston 48, Rogers 45

Coventry 63, Middletown 46

Tyler Broady and Logan Voelker scored 22 and 21 points, respectively, to lead Coventry in the win. Pat Cranson had 15 and Roberto Figueras added 11 for the Islanders in the loss.

Cranston 65, Mt. Hope 49

Jaymien Aponte topped the Falcons in scoring with 16 points and teammate Ryan Zarrella had 15 points in Cranston West's win over Mt. Hope. Lucas Andreozzi scored a game-high 18 points and Matt MacDougal add 11 in the loss.

Shea 49, Hope 26

The Raiders pushed the tempo in this contest and were led by Devontae Cruz's 18 points to improve to 8-4 in Division II play. The Blue Wave (1-13) was led by Jayon Monroe with a team-high 10 points in the loss.

Lincoln 82, Chariho 61

Wayne McNmara paced the Lions with 26 points, Ace Cote added 16 and Cam DiChiara and Josh Bergeron each had 13 as Lincoln improved to 12-0 on the season. For the Chargers (4-10), Mason Cabida had a team-high 19 points and Brendan Gleason had 14 in the loss.

Division III

Moses Brown 66, North Smithfield 64

Separated by just a point at halftime, the Quakers edged the Northmen to improve to 11-3 in league play. Ian Cooper led the way with 28 points and Collin Mburu added 20 for Moses Brown. For North Smithfield (11-3), Tyson Green scored a team-high 26 in the loss.

Prout 87, Blackstone Valley Prep 85 (2 OT)

In a game with Juan Bedoya reaching a personal milestone for Blackstone Valley, Prout's Matthew Chofay spoiled the Pride's party by tipping in the game-winner at the buzzer in double overtime.  For Prout (6-6), Charlie Horne and Ryan Antonucci each scored 22 points, with Lawson O'Hearn adding 17. For BVP (7-5), Ethan Sou scored a game-high 29 points and Bedoya netted 20 and to earn his 1,000th career point.

North Providence 61, West Warwick 58

North Providence remained unbeaten in Division III with its narrow victory at West Warwick. The Cougars were led by Kyle Prete, who scored 20 points, including four 3-pointers. Ryan Rodriguez scored 18 and Jeremiah Lenus added 12 points. For the Wizards, the high scorers were Dylan Viveiros and Caden Lapierre with 11 points each. North Providence improves to 17-2 overall and 15-0 in the division. West Warwick falls to 10-7 overall and 9-5 in the division.

Juanita Sanchez 76, Davies 56

Kyle Delves had a 33-point night and teammate Taurean Williams add 21 more in the Cavaliers' win over the Patriots. Nathan Borden had 12 for the Patriots.

BOYS SWIMMING

Division I

For the Lions, Holden Brown captured wins in the 200 individual medley (2:07.22) and the 100 butterfly (54.50) and was part of two winning relay teams — the 200 IM relay (Luke Richards, Jason Robin, Brown and Jack Lawson) 1:56.85 and the 200 free relay (Brady McDonnell, Lawson, Ryan Lemery and Danny London) 1:49.17. For the Rams, Matt Davis scored wins in the 100 freestyle (1:02.88) and the 100 breaststroke.

GIRLS SWIMMING

Division I

LaSalle 50, Lincoln 44

Reese Flamand finished first in the 100 freestyle (1:01.42) and she also swam on two winning relay teams — the 200 individual medley relay (Nicole Frias, Jane Zhao, Riley Plante, Flamand) 2:03.80; and 200 freestyle relay (Frias, Katie Millea, Emily Karlson, Flamand), paving the way for the Rams' victory over Lincoln. The Lions' Emma Richards and Caleigh Parent each had three wins. Richards was first in the 100 backstroke (1:06.89) and 100 fly (1:04.7) and Parent was first in the 200 free (2:08.19) and 500 free (5:47.10). Both swimmers were on the winning 400 relay team (Richards, Parent, Amanda DeCarvalho, Samantha Iacobucci) with 4:08.09.
