High School Roundup: Scores and recaps from Wednesday's girls basketball games in RI

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Division I

Westerly 58, Classical 49

Madison Pellegrino poured in a game-high 21 points and Nova Woodward added 10 more as the Bulldogs built up a 36-24 halftime lead and never looked back as they upended the the Purple. Shanell Smith Akpan had a strong performance for Classical in the loss with 20 points and teammate Daniella Jimenez knocked down 9 more points.

Barrington 46, La Salle 33

Isys Dunphy scored a game high 24 points as Barrington improved its record to 8-1 with a win over La Salle. Janaya Prince-Baquero and Maddie Gill contributed to the win with 10 points and 8 points, respectively. The Rams, who were led by Grace Martone's team-high 11 points, fall to 6-4.

North Kingstown 68, St. Raphael 32

North Kingstown led St. Ray's to 1 point after the first quarter, then its defense took over, holding the Saints to zero points in the second quarter and only 14 points in the second half as they rolled to victory. Leading the way for the Skippers were Jalen Holmes with 18 points, Maya Bigeli with 13 points and Brooke Faunce with 10. The Saints' Vanessa Piscione led all scorers with 26 points.

Bay View 63, Scituate 36

Bay View took to the road and overwhelmed Scituate from start to finish in this contest. Amelia Polichetti led Bay View with 25 points, including 11 of 12 free throws, and Ava Wasylow added 16 for the Bengals. Scituate was led by Gabby Russillo with 9 points. Sydney Pagnozzi and Hannah Erickson had 8 points each for the Spartans.  Bay View improved its record to 8-2 overall while Scituate fell to 4-6.

Cranston West 56, East Providence 48

Kyla Buco led the Falcons with 19 points, Olivia Tedeschi-Moran added 13 and Maia Riccio had 10 as West improved to 7-2 in Division I play. For East Providence (1-7), Harmonie McDowell scored 22 points in the loss.

South Kingstown 46, Rogers 25

Celine Barbera paced the Rebels with 17 points, Finley Carr added 11 points and MacKenzie Riberio had 6 points and 12 rebounds as SK improved to 5-5 in Division I play. For the Vikings (0-9), Julia Cormelly had 10 points and Tessa Purcell added 8 in the loss.

Division II

Shea/Tolman 55, Chariho 35

In battle between two of the top teams in Division I, Shea/Tolman dominated from the start and knocked off Chariho. Paving the way for the Pawtucket Co-op were Armani Rivera with 29 points, Trinity Burk with 8 points and 20 boards and Tiyara Gonzalez with 18 points. Keira Frias had 14 points, including 4 treys, in the loss. Shea/Tolman improves to 8-1 in league play and the Chargers fall to 7-2.

Mount St. Charles 56, Smithfield 43

A trio of Mounties scored in double digits, including Addie Johnson, who poured in 22 points with four treys, as MSC rolled to victory over Smithfield in the Division II crossover. Anna Dziun had 13 points in the win and Emma Roberts knocked down 10. Annabelle Lally led the Sentinels with 9 points in the loss.

Moses Brown 65, Cranston 42

Moses Brown's threesome - Lauren Bousquet, Hannah West and Jaelynn Perez - shot the lights out, combining for 52 of the team's 65 point totals and toppled Cranston East. Bousquet pumped in 23 points, West had 15 and Perez was good for 14. Mya Jiminez had a solid effort for the Bolts in the loss as she buried a game-high 25 points.

Division III

Narragansett 63, Lincoln 36

The Mariners upped their record to 9-1 with a blowout win over the Lions. Leading the way for Narragansett were Delaney Bonneau, who scored a game high 22 points with 6 threes and Grace Blessing with a double-double (14 pts., 10 boards). Also contributing to the win were Dharma Parks with 15 rebounds and 4 assists and Brooke Caffrey with 8 boards and 5 assist. Lauren Cipriano topped Lincoln in scoring with 18 points and teammate Tayla Valentin added 8 points.

Division IV

Johnston 53, Blackstone Valley Prep 33

Bella Gesualdi's 18 points helped Johnston roll to a win over Blackstone Valley Prep in Div. IV. The Panthers also got a 12-point night from Jayanah Rollins. For BVP, Disla Argehennis led the way with 11 points.
