BOYS BASKETBALL
Division I
Classical 65, Cumberland 59
Offense was on full display in this Division I clash between two previously unbeatable teams. But it was the Purple who raised their arms as victors when the final buzzer sounded. Classical boasted four players in double-figures, led by Jordan Duke's 22 points. Teammates Devin Alejosone (14), Abdul Evans (12) and Elizer Delbrey (11) assured the Classical record would remain unblemished (6-0). For the Clippers (3-1), Joe Parenteau scored a game-high 25 points, Hunter Zancan added 13 and Connor Allard had 12 in loss.
East Providence 45, Mount Pleasant 40
Christian Torres and Franklin Carela Lopez each chipped in with 10 points to lead East Providence. The Townies edged Kilties, 13-7, in the third quarter — Lopez tallied 7 in the frame. Jaylin Roberton scored 9 points to pace Mount Pleasant.
Hendricken 74, North Kingstown 50
Hendricken outscored the Skippers 25-5 in the first quarter as Jakob Reyes tallied 12 of his 14 points in the opening frame. Dylan Lynch added a team-high 16 points for the Hawks. Junior Michael DeOrsey scored a game-high 25 points, including 12 in the second quarter for NK.
Barrington 73, East Greenwich 35
Matt Raffa scored 12 of his game-high 25 points in the first quarter to get Barrington off to a fast start and they never looked back as they defeated East Greenwich and remained unbeaten (5-0) in league play. Nick Scandura finished with 14 points for the home team, as they improve to 9-0 overall. Aidan Glynn knocked down four 3-ointers and led the Avengers (0-5) with 12 points in the loss.
Westerly 65, Cranston East 39
Jesse Samo finished with 20 points and the Bulldogs went on to record the win and even their record at 3-3. The Thunderbolts, who fall to 0-6, were led by Juel Goris and his 13 points.
Narragansett 67, Central 55
Jackson Hohl (17 points) and Hayden Dewey (16) combined to lead the Mariners to victory, evening their record at 3-3. Elijah Reed had 20 points for the Knights, who remain winless and fall to 0-5.
Division II
Burrillville 64, Times2 47
Logan Gelinas led all scorers with 21 points, Nolan Serafin added 11 and Jordan Furtado and Jack DiChiaro each had 9 as the Broncos cruised to their fifth win in six games. Sam Feliz scored 17 and Steve Garcia contributed 11 for the Bald Eagles, now 1-5.
Chariho 57, Mt. Hope 45
The Chargers' Owen Apice was a force to be reckon with, netting a game-high 27 points (including four 3-pointers), hitting 7-of-9 free throws and dishing out 5 assists. Teammate Chris Kozlosky added 18 for Chariho's first victory of the season. For Mt. Hope, Matt MacDougall led the Huskies with 16 points (with four 3s) and Maleaq Roderick added 13 in the loss.
Shea 60, Pilgrim 41
Devontae Cruz finished with a game-high 22 points, which included four 3-pointers, sparking the Raiders to their second win of the season against four losses. Elijah Ibidapo chipped in with 12 points for Shea, which led, 36-21, at halftime. Carter Clifton had 11 points for the Patriots, who are now 2-3.
Johnston 89, Tiverton 46
The Panthers led this one comfortably throughout. Neari Vasquez's hot hand continued, netting 22 points to help Johnson improve to 6-0 in league play. Mike Carlino chipped in with 13 points and Jayden Testa added 10 in the win. Tiverton was led by Elliot Pasquale with 17 points.
Lincoln 81, Middletown 47
Lincoln improved to 10-0 on the year with four players in double-figures and Joshua Bergeron paced the Lions with 22 points. Camden DiChiara and Wayne McNamara poured in 18 apiece and Ace Cote added 12 for Lincoln, who connected on 10 3-pointers. Roberto Figueras tallied a dozen for Middletown.
Division III
West Warwick 75, Scituate 52
Owen Stearns got the Wizards going in the first quarter with 14 points as West Warwick strolled to a 27-15 advantage after the first frame. Stearns finished with 23 points and Caden Lapierre added a dozen. For Scituate, Andrew Vigeant had a game-high 25 points, including a trio of 3-pointers in the opening stanza.
Juanita Sanchez 80, Exeter West Greenwich 57
Taurean Williams scored 11 of his 17 points in the first quarter to pace Juanita Sanchez, who had 47 points at the break. Freshman Kyle Delves tallied 15 points as well. Kole Kilduff poured in 11 points in the first half (16 for the game) for EWG.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Division III
Narragansett 52, Central Falls 33
Senior Pamela Galva scored her 1,000th career point, coming on a free throw, and led all scorers with 23 points on the night. But it was the Mariners' balanced offensive attack, as well as taking advantage of Central Falls' turnovers, that won the day, with three players reaching double figures. Narragansett built a 5-point halftime advantage, and only extended that lead in the second half, limiting the Warriors to just 14 points after the break. 'Gansett's Grace Blessing scored a team-high 18 points, with teammates Delaney Bonneau (16) and Brooke Caffrey (10) helping the Mariners seal their fifth league win of the season to remain unbeaten in Division III.
North Smithfield 43, Toll Gate 38
Reaghan Kelley paced North Smithfield with 15 points and Bryson Murray added 9 in the win, to improve the Northmen's record to 3-0 in Division III play, 5-0 overall. North Smithfield opened up its lead in the fourth quarter to secure the victory. For the Titans, Adeline Areson scored a game-high 20 points (with 15 rebounds) in the loss.
BOYS SWIMMING
Division I
Hendricken 50, North Kingstown 44
Tristan Jordan won the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle races and was part of the winning 200 free relay, and Damon Buchanan added victories in the 200 free and 500 free and was also part of the 200 free relay team, as they paced the Hawks to the narrow victory at the McDermott Pool in Warwick. For the Skippers, Zach Szabo won the 200 IM and 100 butterfly races and was part of the victorious 200 medley relay and 400 free relay teams. Zach Proulx added wins in 100 back, 200 medley relay and 400 free relay races.
GIRLS SWIMMING
Non-league
Toll Gate 37, Mount St. Charles 33
Toll Gate's Katelyn Watson won the 500 freestyle (7:25.36), 100 backstroke (1:15.90) and was part of the winning 200 medley relay. Teammate Samantha Lin won the 100 freestyle (109.9), 100 breaststroke (1:34.33) and was also on the winning 200 medley team. For the Mounties, Shannon Vachon won the 200 freestyle (2:42) and the 50 freestyle (32.07).
