BASEBALL

Division I

Cumberland 9, Mt. Hope 1

The Clippers wasted little time getting on the scoreboard, batting around in the first inning to plate 6 runs, led by Andrew Nocera, who was 2-for-2 with an RBI and a run scored. Connor Allard went 2-for-4, also with a run scored and an RBI, and Andy Ray was 2-for-3. On the mound, Joaquin Cardoso struck out 5 batters over 6 innings, allowing just one earned run. For the Huskies, Ethan Santerre, Brian Abbruzzi and Rhys Davies each had a hit.

Division III

Scituate 10, Juanita Sanchez 0

Kaiden Durand had two hits and 3 RBI and teammate Travis Howman had 2 hits, a walk and scored two runs to lead the Spartans to a win over the Cavaliers.

SOFTBALL

Division I

Pilgrim 11, Moses Brown 1

Genna Domato led Pilgrim with 3 RBI, with two hits on the day, while Madison Tuirok had two hits and two walks in the win. Gretchen Dombeck hit a 2-run double and pitched all 5 innings of the mercy rule-shortened affair, striking out 6 and allowing 3 hits. For the Quakers, Margaret Mashamba's double brought in Moses Brown's lone run.

Division II

Scituate 11, Narragansett 7  

Isabella DefuscoVictoria Geisser and Katelyn Egan each drove in two runs as the Spartans rolled past the Mariners. Defusco pitched 4.2 innings, striking out 2 in the win. For Narragansett, Grace Blessing had 2 hits and 2 RBI in the loss.

Division III

Cranston East 19, Mount St. Charles 0

The Thunderbolt improved its record to 11-0 by blanking the Mounties in Division III. Nevaeh Fatorma and Jaeda Viveiros led the way for Cranston East as they each banged out 4 hits, including an inside-the-park home run for each and they knocked in 4 runs each.

BOYS LACROSSE

Division III

Smithfield 15, Narragansett 6

Nick Pike led all scorers with a school record 7 goals and 2 assists, Jacob Boudreau had 3 goals and 3 assists and Tommy Hayes and Julian Herrera each had 2 goals and 1 assist in the Sentinels' win over the Mariners.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Division I

La Salle 10, Portsmouth 10

The Rams upped their record to 10-4 with a victory over the Patriots in soggy field conditions. Leading the way for La Salle were Maddi Goodwin with 4 tallies, Lily Peters with 3 goals and 2 assists and Kerri McGovern with 2 goals and 2 helpers.

Division II

Narragansett 18, Cranston East 6

The Mariners found themselves in an early 0-2 hole, but also found their rhythm, to tie then lead the rest of the way to their 10th straight win. Ellie Wooten recorded 6 goals and 3 assists, with Natalia Salvador and Eris Hughes each scored three times. For the Thunderbolts, Alyssa Pereira and Lily Tillinghast had 3 each goals in the loss.

Division III

East Providence 17, Rogers 8

Kenna Wigginton led the Townies with 5 goals, Dylan Flynn and Kloey Iacovone each scored 4 and goalie Ava Williams had 8 saves in the win. EP improves to 7-5 on the season, while Rogers falls to 1-11.

BOYS VOLLEYBALL

Division I

Cranston East 3, Classical 0 (25-22, 25-14, 25-23)

The performances by Charles Pincince (14 kills), Carlos Lora (6 kills, 14 digs) and Caleb Xum (24 assists) paved the way for the Thunderbolt's sweep of the Purple.

Division III

Portsmouth 3, Toll Gate 0 (25-19, 26-24, 25-17)

Jalen Ivey recorded 7 blocks and 7 kills, Sean Wilkey had 5 kills, 3 blocks, an ace and 13 digs, Hayden Kryzch had 17 digs and 5 blocks and Adam Banks posted 13 digs in the Patriots' sweep of the Titans. For Portsmouth, Austin Scott had 10 kills and Michael Pella-Sabourin was good for 6 kills and 1 block in the loss.

Scituate/Prout 3, Achievement First 0 (25-19, 25-17, 25-20)

Scituate/Prout was led to the victory by Porter Fisher, who had 12 assists, and Mason Brown with 9 assists. AJ Kue had 20 assists and 3 kills for Achievement First while teammate Brandon Manguia had 7 kills and 3 blocks. Scituate/Prout improves to 13-3.

East Providence 3, Juanita Sanchez 1 (23-25, 25-21, 25-18, 25-18)

East Providence lost the first set of this contest but swept the last three to gain the victory. The Townies were led by DJ Lepine’s 14 kills and Pedro Medeiros’ 4 blocks. Eliah Torres had 13 kills for the Cavaliers. East Providence improves to 11-4 in Division II and 12-4 overall. Juanita Sanchez falls to 11-3 in Division III.
