BASEBALL

Division I

Cumberland 10, Mt. Hope 0

Benjamin Jahnz took to the mound for the Clippers and 7 innings later he celebrated a shutout, allowing only 2 hits while striking out 9. Jahnz also helped himself a the plate with 2 hits and 2 RBI and Joshua Lyon also had 2 hits and 2 RBI.

Hendricken 14, Moses Brown 1 (5 inn.)

Hendricken piled up nine runs through two innings for the mercy rule finish. Jack LaRose went 1-for-2 with a triple and three RBIs and two runs scored. Griffin Crain pitched a complete game (five innings) with five strikeouts and two hits allowed. Mason Crain added two hits with an RBI as the Hawks tallied 11 hits in the contest.

Lincoln 5, Coventry 2

The Lions halted a two-game losing streak with a four-run fifth inning against the Oakers. Lincoln started the frame with a pair of singles and then Lucas Marshall delivered a hard ground ball to the left side for an RBI. Michael Parisi, a freshman, followed with a sacrifice fly as Lincoln took a 3-2 lead. Isaac Cabral and Joseph Conti also had RBIs in the frame. Conti took the win with seven innings pitched with four hits allowed and one earned run.

Anthony Colucci was dealt the loss, but managed seven strikeouts over six innings.

Portsmouth 6, Central 0

A big first inning for the Patriots carried Portsmouth to its seventh win of the season. Portsmouth’s first-inning rally started with John Mass’ double and Oliver Rey’s single to plate the first run. The Patriots then worked three consecutive walks, followed by Avery Amaio’s RBI-single as Portsmouth plated five runs in the sequence.

Mass threw four innings of two-hit ball with eight strikeouts to a pair of walks and was 3-for-3 at the plate.

Cranston West 9, Toll Gate 6

Cranston West’s eight-run top of the fifth was the difference as the Falcons played small ball for the big inning. The Falcons reached on five singles and three errors across the frame for their seventh win of the season. Dante Piscopiello went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and Brendan Smith also managed two hits with three runs scored.

Toll Gate led 4-1 leading into the fifth inning.

Division III

Classical 9, Davies 0

Tyler Lee pitched a gem over 5.1 innings for the Purple with just three hits allowed. The senior racked up seven strikeouts and surrendered just two walks on the day. Dominic Mazza went 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored. And Allen Espinal supplied two hits with a run batted in as the Purple won their second of back-to-back games.

SOFTBALL

Division II

Lincoln/North Providence 18, Barrington 6

The Wildcats built a comfortable lead early, then closed the game down late with nine runs in the final two innings to seal the 18-6 victory. LNP started scoring in the first inning on Lauren Cipriano’s home run and didn’t stop until the sixth when Payton Bernardino hit a sac fly that capped a five-run sixth. Mariana Xavier had a huge day at the plate, going 3-for-4 with four RBI and five runs, Cipriano was 2-for-4 with four runs and three RBI and Caroline Ricci went 2-for-3 with one run and three RBI. Bernardino finished with two RBIs, Makenna Heon had two runs and two RBIs and Madilyn Sheehan finished with two runs and an RBI.

Ace McCoy did what she could to help the Barrington offense, going 2-for-3 with two runs and Alyssa Conaty was 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI in the loss.

South Kingstown 14, Burrillville 4

Up one run after three innings, the Rebels exploded for nine runs over the next two and walked off with a 14-4 win over the Northmen. South Kingstown led 5-4 heading to the bottom of the fourth when the offense took off. Jenna Navoian got things started with an RBI single and two batters later, Bianca Harding drove in another run. Abigail O’Connor followed with an RBI single and later scored on a passed ball to cap the scoring for the inning. In the fifth, Tessa O’Sullivan, Navoian, Abigail O’Roarke, and Harding drove in runs to make it 13-4 before a grounding by O’Connor scored Harding, ending the game via the mercy rule. Navoian had a big day for the Rebels, going 2-for-3 with three runs and two RBI. Harding was 3-for-3 with three runs and two RBI and O’Connor and Meghan Boettger both drove home three runs. Adrianna Carter led the BNS offense, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and scoring a run.

Portsmouth 7, Narragansett 3

The Patriots scored three runs in the first and held on to the lead for the rest of the game in a 7-3 win over the Mariners. Portsmouth got its scoring started with an RBI single by Mia Ruggieri, which was followed by a two-run error on a ball hit by Mary Rainey that allowed Ruggieri and Kaelyn Mahoney to score. Rainey came through in the top of the third with a two-run single that made it a 5-1 game. Rainey threw a complete game and struck out six while spreading out five hits and only allowing one earned run. She helped her cause going 1-for-3 with two RBI. Mahoney and Ruggieri both scored two runs in the win. Payton Abrams had two hits and scored one run for Narragansett and Samantha Cronin had an RBI in the loss.

Nonleague

Waterford (CT) 3, Westerly 2

The Bulldogs couldn’t hold on to a lead late and dropped a non-league contest to Waterford, 3-2. One swing gave Westerly all of its runs, as Bella Mazzarese hit a two-run shot that scored Emma Caracciolo. The lead looked good until the sixth, when Waterford rallied for three runs. Lyla Auth threw a terrific game in defeat, giving up three hits while striking out seven in 5 2/3 innings of work. Caracciolo, Mazzarese, Lilly Vetelino and Sara Arnold had the Bulldogs’ four hits in the game.

BOYS LACROSSE

Division I

North Kingstown 7, Portsmouth 4

Brady Bennet was one of seven North Kingstown players to score a goal and his turned out to be the game winner as the Skippers came from behind to defeat the Patriots. Indy Pacheco was the only players in the game to have multiple goals. He scored two for Portsmouth in the loss.

Division III

Westerly 14, Toll Gate 4

Caleb Williams found the back of the net 7 times and added an assist and Ian Morisette scored 4 goals and assisted on 6 more as the Bull Dogs rolled to victory over the Titans in a Division II crossover. Kameron Meunier scored three goals for TG in the loss.

Scituate 13, Classical 0

GIRLS LACROSSE

Division II

Mt. Hope 11, Cranston West 9

Arden Wilkes scored 5 goals and teammates Lola Silva and Maria Lacey each had 2 goals and an assist and goalie Emily Moran recoded 15 saves in what became the Huskies first win of the season. Also Grace Zamil and Ella Quesnelle each had a goal in the win. For the Falcons, Ashley Budano and Zoe Budano each had a hattrick in the loss.

Chariho 18, Cumberland 6

Kayden Jaillet scored 7 goals and teammate Chaia Elwell added five more as the Chargers upended the Clippers. For Chariho, Izzy Beitler and Lucy Biggs each scored 2 goals.

Narragansett 18, Mount St. Charles 7

The play of Ellie Wooten (6 goals, 2 assists), Katie Daily (3 goals) and Julianne Harris (3 goals), helped the Mariners upend the Mounties for their ninth straight victory. Maddy Tally (2 goals, 1 assist) and Jenna Silvestri (2 goals) contributed to the win. Brynn Link topped MSC in scoring as she put together a hattrick in the loss.

Division IV

Lincoln 10, North Providence 1

Lincoln jumped out to a big lead early on and coasted to victory over North Providence. Leading the way for the Lions was Molly Comtois with 5 goals, Faith Miguel and Spencer Cameron with a hattrick each and Skye Adam with 2 goals. North Providence was led by Sandra Angell and Alisandra Santana with 3 goals each.

VOLLEYBALL

Division II

Lincoln 3, Central 1 (25-20, 23-25, 25-18, 25-20)

Wayne McNamara turned in a solid effort with 16 kills, 18 digs, 5 aces and 5 blocks and teammate Austin Noel recorded 36 assists and 7 kills in the Lions victory over Central. For the Knights, Jet Nacimento put together a strong performance 15 Kills, 5 aces, 11 digs and 4 blocks and teammate Komong Yang had 5 kills, 15 assists and 8 digs in the loss.

Division III

Scituate/Prout Co-op 3, Toll Gate 1 (25-16, 23-25, 25-11, 26-24)

Scituate/Prout was led by Mason Brown with 17 kills and 12 assists, Porter Fisher with 11 kills and 21 assists and Jake Maiello with 14 digs. The leader for the Titans was Austin Scotti with 10 kills and 1 block. Scituate/Prout improves to 12-2 while Toll Gate falls to 8-6.

Tolman/Shea 3, Portsmouth 0 (25-11, 25-21, 25-20)

Hayson Ortiz recorded 9 kills, 7 digs and 2 blocks, Jean-Lucas Barroso had 8 kills, 9 digs and 1 ace and Jim-Terry Borrnelus had 5 kills, 8 digs and 1 block in the Pawtucket co-op victory.
