HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP: Nauset boys lacrosse adds to winning streak

Andrew Berardi scored five goals to lead the Nauset Regional High School boys lacrosse team to their seventh straight win with a 12-6 victory over Falmouth High School.

The Warriors (11-2) have won nine of their last 10 games. Quinn Mucha (goal, three assists), Cooper McIntire (two goals, assist), Peyton Kender (two goals, assist each) and Kevin Wright (two goals) all contributed on offense for Nauset. Zach Coelho played well in net on defense.

Falmouth falls to 9-4.

Boys Lacrosse

Sandwich 9, Barnstable 2: Shane Corcoran led the defense with 15 saves in net for the Blue Knights. Connor Stack went 14-for-15 on faceoffs while Avery Richardson had a hat trick. Dan Oman and Cole Rodgers (two assists) each scored twice, and Hunter West-Mather and Luke Rodgers each contributed a goal for Sandwich (8-4). Barnstable falls 2-11.

Monomoy 15, St. John Paul II 2: The Sharks offense was led by Tamer Khalil (six goals, three assists), Joey McKeen (three goals, assist), Seamus St. Pierre (two goals, assist), Jackson Rocco (goal), Owen Ramler (goal), Braeden Darling (goal), Christian Whittle and Braden Burke each had an assist.

The defense was led by Max Barrett, Darling, Owen Dubis, and Jackson Morneau. Jake Giorgio had seven saves in net for Monomoy (7-3). JPII falls to 2-8.

Softball

South Shore 17, Cape Tech 5: The Crusaders (2-9) scored all five of their runs in the last inning.

Norfolk Aggie 17, Upper Cape 6: The Rams (3-11) fall short at home.

Baseball

Upper Cape 11, Norfolk Aggie 1: Starter Jared Coates allow no earned runs, while giving up one hit and striking out eight for the Rams in the win. Patrick O’Rourke, Evan Bostwick, Keirnan Ballard and Ryan Lovering led the offense for Upper Cape (10-2).

South Shore Voke 3, Cape Tech 2: The Crusaders went to extra innings but came up just short. Steve Swanson went the distance in his first varsity start of his career. He also doubled in the first run of the game and had two hits on the day, while Jake Ambrosini knocked in the other run for Cape Tech (5-8).

Girls Lacrosse

Falmouth 10, Nauset 4: The Clippers (6-5) snapped a two-game slide with the win. Coral Punch scored twice, and Josi Boskus and Sienna Reeves each added a goal for Nauset (6-5).

Sturgis West 14, Falmouth Academy 8: Jillian Greene scored seven goals to lead the Navigators offense. Jinpei Holmes added four goals. Cora McDade, Melissa Bonnelly and Elena Collins each contributed a goal for Sturgis West (4-3). Ava Navarro and Savannah Roy each had an assist, and goalie Claire Hagerty made 15 saves in the win.

Margaret Lowell (two), Faye McGuire (two), Carly Coggins (two), Lexi Kalkanis and Mira Davis all found the back of the net for Falmouth Academy (1-5). Davis (two), Amelia Russell Schaffer, Susanna Lowell and Caroline Cazeault all helped with assists. Lowell (seven) and Natalie Hurlbut (five) played well on draw controls, and Willow Wakefield led the defense in net with 18 saves.

Nantucket 13, Cape Cod Academy 7: The Whalers (9-2) won their sixth straight game. Tilly Crosby scored six goals while Quinn Powers added a goal and an assist for the Whalers (7-4). Flynn Kayajan made nine saves.

Sandwich 13, Barnstable 3: The Blue Knights were led by Ryann Cobban (six goals, two assists) and Sophia Visceglio (two goals, five assists) in the win. Quinn Anderson added two goals, Avery Cobban finished with a goal and an assist, and Emma MacPherson and Riley Morrison each contributed a goal for Sandwich (11-1). Barnstable drops to 2-7.

Upper Cape 19, Sturgis East 2: Adryanna Turner (six goals), Caitlin Greeley (four), Briel Bailey (three), Hannah Guay (two), Lauren Cox (two), Joni Guay (one) and Jessi Girouard (one) all contributed on offense for Upper Cape (13-2). Molly Petty had five saves during the first half, and Ella Kerrigan had nine saves in the second half for the Rams.

Martha’s Vineyard 8, Dennis-Yarmouth 3: The Vineyarders (6-4) win their second straight as they beat the Dolphins (1-9).

Monomoy 7, St. John Paul II 6: The Sharks (11-2) win their eighth straight as they beat the Lions (6-5).

Girls Tennis

Cape Cod Academy 4, Rising Tide 1: The Seahawks win their ninth straight match and improve to 11-1.

Boys Tennis

Cape Cod Academy 4, Rising Tide 1: Ben Catalano defeated Jack Flynn (first singles, 6-0, 6-0), Griffin Mayo beat Cam Sadler (second singles, 6-1, 6-2), and James Brunicardi won over Bryce Murray (third singles, 6-3, 6-0) for the Seahawks singles sweep.

Ayden Naydenov/Tom Murray defeated Connor O'Neil/Alex Garron (first doubles, 4-6, 6-0, 6-4), and Jack Walker/Trevor Anderson defeated Cooper Stephens/Garrett Wilson (second doubles, 4-6, 6-1, 10-4 tiebreaker) for Cape Cod Academy (9-1).

Girls Golf

Nauset 4, Barnstable 2: After losing their season opener, the Warriors (7-1) have not been in the loss column since, winning seven in a row. Barnstable drops to 0-9.

Monomoy 4 1/2, Dennis-Yarmouth 1 1/2: Ava Packett (4&3), Sally Watson (2up), Ava Larocco (4&3), Orla Delaney (3-2), and Emily Layton (5&4) each scored a point for the Sharks in the win. Kendra Hayes scored a point for D-Y (3-6).

Boys Track & Field

Nauset 88, Sturgis 47: The Warriors remain unbeaten at 6-0.

Girls Track & Field

Nauset 72, Sturgis 63: In a close matchup, the Warriors win their sixth straight meet.

Sailing

St. John Paul II 3, Monomoy 0: The Lions (5-3) beat the Sharks (1-8).

Nauset 5, Sturgis 0: The Warriors (3-4) beat Sturgis (3-3).
