HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP: Monomoy softball wins 10th straight game with walk-off win

The Monomoy girls softball team won their 10th straight game with a 4-3 walk-off win over Cardinal Spellman on Monday. Kinsey Lister (2-for-4) hit the winning RBI in the bottom of the seventh inning for Monomoy. AJ Gates went 4-for-4 at the plate with two runs scored, while Kate Huse (one RBI, one run) and Willa Leighton (one RBI) each had two hits.

Barnstable 22, Sturgis 16: The Red Hawks (2-11) won their second game of the season as they beat Sturgis (5-7) behind a cycle (one home run, two triples, one double, two singles, six scored runs) from Sara Ormston. Jazlyn Coyer (two doubles, two singles, five runs), Madison Flynn (two singles, two walks, three runs), and Kaylee Koch (two walks, three runs, one single) also contributed at the plate for Barnstable.

Wareham 16, Nauset 3: The Warriors (5-10) have dropped their last four games.

Durfee 16, Dennis-Yarmouth 5: The Dolphins (6-9) fell short afte they had a 5-0 lead at one point in the game. Savannah Azoff doubled and scored one run, while Brooke Chicoine hit an inside the park home run, and scored three runners for D-Y.

Upper Cape 24, Cape Tech 11: The Rams (7-7) have won three of the last four games with win over the Crusaders (3-11). Emma King (two singles, two doubles, one triple) led the offense, while Taysia Lopes had a deep double that started a 15-run inning for Upper Cape. Lopes also struck out eight on the mound.

GNBVT 5, Bourne 3: The Lady Canalmen (6-9) came up short on the road as Paige Meda (one run), Jill Allen (two runs), Jadyn Morrell (one RBI), and Olivia Meda each recorded a single.

Carver 27, St. John Paul II 14: The Lions (0-12) lost on the road.

Baseball

Cape Tech 5, Nantucket 4: Aidan Choukri pitched a complete game for the Crusaders (9-7) as he struck out eight, and allowed seven hits, four walks and three unearned runs in a win over the Whalers (2-11). Mason Tomlinson was 1-for-3 (double, two RBIs), Jake Ambrosini went 2-for-3 (two RBIs), Will Mullin was 1-for-3, and Trevor Ryone finished 2-for-3 (one RBI) for Cape Tech.

Dennis-Yarmouth 8, Sandwich 0: Hudson Cambal pitched a complete game and gave up no runs, five hits, one walk and struck out six as the Dolphins (7-10) beat the Blue Knights (9-6). Jake Bohlin his a two-run homer in the first inning, while John Richard turned three double plays and went 2-for-3 (one run, two RBIs) for D-Y.

Monomoy 6, Mashpee 2: Gareth Vos and Chace Robbins combined and scattered four hits and struck out six for the Sharks (9-6) win over the Falcons (5-9). Finn Hyora and Reign Stephens each scored twice, while Ty Nunes finished with three RBIs and two hits for Monomoy.

Durfee 4, Barnstable 3: The Red Hawks (12-3) broke a five game win streak. Jack Tarbox pitched six innings, allowed four runs (three earned) and struck out four for Barnstable, while Owen Walsh pitched a scoreless seventh inning and struck out two batters. Finn O'Donnell went 2-for-3 at the plate and scored one run, while Anthony DiGiacomo went 2-for-4 at and recorded 2 RBIs.

GNBVT 4, Bourne 0: The Canalmen (3-10) came up short at home as Ty Kelley and James Crowell had the only hits of the game. Ryan Sullivan started and gave up three hits, one run, and struck out four over three innings for Bourne.

Carver 9, St. John Paul II 4: The Lions (10-5) snapped a four game win streak. Logan Our (one scored run) had two hits, while HENRY Roy (one run, two walks), Brady Meyer (two runs), Colin Buckley (one RBI, one walk) and Max Ingraham (two RBIs, two walks) each recorded a hit for JPII.

Falmouth 5, Sturgis 0: The Clippers (6-9) recorded their third shutout win of the season as they defeated Sturgis (3-8) behind a no-hitter from Trey Cardoza with eight strikeouts. Connor Oliver went 2-for-3 (two runs scored), TreChaun Days finished 2-for-4 (one run and one RBI), Max Inman was 1-for-4 (two RBIs), and Brody Palmer ended 1-for-3 (double and RBI) for Falmouth.

Nauset 13, Wareham 1: The Warriors (13-4) have won four straight. Emmet Blatz pitched 4.2 inning, after an injury to starter Colin Potter, and gave up three hits, no runs and struck out five for Nauset. Ethan Beer was 2-for-3 (one double, one triple, and three RBIs), while Evan Archer went 2-for-3 with (triple and two RBIs).

Norwell 5, Martha’s Vineyard 1: The Vinyeraders (5-9) have hit an eight game slide.

Girls Lacrosse

Bourne 8, Upper Cape 6: The Lady Canalmen (4-10) have won three straight after an 1-10 as they beat the Rams (10-4). Bree Lunedei (two goals, one assist), Tessa Stone (one goal), Hannah Petrillo (one goal, one assist), Taylor Simard (one goal, one assist), Sienna Silva (one goal), Lila Moreman (one assist), and Janice Bouchard (one goal) also scored for Bourne. The defense was led by Mia Lowden with 16 saves in goal, while Emilie Moll, Cassidy Bonzagni, Mallory Doyle and Sophia Sheehy also contributed.

Cohasset 15, Sandwich 9: The Lady Knights (13-1) lost their first game of the season. Quinn Anderson with (three goals), Kyla Darmon (two goals, one assist), Aubrie Schwager (two goals), Avery Cobban (one goal, one assist), Kolbie Darmon (one goal) for Sandwich.

Rockland 9, Mashpee 5: The Falcons (4-9) came up short on the road.

Dartmouth 11, Falmouth 10: The Clippers (7-8) came up just short on the road.

Boys Lacrosse

Bourne 17, Upper Cape 5: Ty Hawkes (one assist) and Charlie Seitz each scored five goals for the Canalmen (9-5) as they beat the Rams (8-8). Ryan Haden (three goals, three assists), Brett Lucier (two goals, one assists), Sean Kelley (one goal, two assists), Brady Banks (one goal, one assist), Drew Kelley (one goal) all contributed on offense, while Max Beals had 16 saves in goal for Bourne.

St. John Paul II 11, Cape Tech 1: The Lions (7-7) beat the Crusaders (1-13) as they snapped a three game slide. Jack Hyde (four goals, one assist), Alex Morin (two goals, two assists), Taylor Richardson (two goals), and Sean Willis (one goal, one assist) led the offense, while Maki Gordon had six saves in goal for JPII.

Nantucket 14, Old Rochester 2: The Whalers (12-1) continue to roll with their 10th straight win.

Rockland 12, Mashpee 4: The Falcons (4-11) lost at home.

Barnstable 4, Monomoy 1: The Red Hawks (10-3) have won four of their last five matches as they beat the Sharks (7-6) and clinched a spot in the MIAA tournament.

Harry Baroni beat Gavin McDonnell in second singles (4-6, 7-6 (5-7), 7-6), while Eric Arabadzhiev defeated Roman Pavluchenko in third singles (7-5, 6-3) for Barnstable. Mike Higginbottom and Connor O'Reilly beat Connor Francis and Paul Carlson in first doubles (6-1, 7-6 (9-7)), while Thomas Berger and Andy Coombs defeated Blade Noonan and Ethan Seufert in second doubles (6-4, 6-4). Ryan Casey beat Brennan Riley in first singles (6-2, 6-2) for Monomoy.

St. John Paul II 3, Falmouth 2: The Lions (15-0) remain on a hot streak as they won their 15th straight match with a win over the Clippers (4-9). Lily Walker beat Geneveive Maranchie in first singles (6-0, 6-0), Grace Walker won third singles (6-0, 6-1) over Gayatri Chaturvedi, and Kayla Katziff and Emily Desruisseau beat Sadie Inman and Phiebe Hudgson in second doubles (1-6, 6-4, 6-4) in second doubles for JPII.

Maia Ledwell beat Rosanna Sullivan in second singles (6-1, 6-1), while Alexis Christian and Marcella DePaula defeated Bridget Moran and Ava P. in first doubles (6-1, 6-3) for Falmouth.

Sandwich 3, Rockland/East Bridgewater 2: The Blue Knights (5-6) won their first road match of the season. Andrew Emmel beat Kaden Gastel in first singles (6-0, 6-0), Joey LaScola and Andrew Chanya defeated Mo Asad and Lula Cavicchi in first doubles (5-7, 6-3, (10-6)), and Liam McLaughlin and Finn Whelden won second doubles (6-4, 6-4) over Mike Hickey and Gustavo DePaula for Sandwich.

Falmouth 5, St. John Paul II 0: The Clippers (6-8) swept the Lions (1-14). Thomas Ghossein beat Ben Kowal in first singles (6-0, 6-3)., Quintin Hefferan defeated Zach Jones in second singles (6-1, 6-0), and Sam Collins and Jacob Faidell won first doubles (6-1, 6-2) over Michael Maynard and Will Sutton for Falmouth. The Clippers won third singles and second doubles by forfeit.

Mashpee 3, Rising Tide 2: The Falcons (8-4) have won five straight matches. Colin Burdge beat Jack Flynn in first singles (6-2, 4-6, 7-5), James Benners defeated Connor O'Neil in second singles (6-4, 1-6, 7-5), and Andrew Kelley and Camden Perry won first doubles (7-6 (7-5), 6-4) over Cam Sadler and Robert Donnie for Mashpee.

Nauset 5, Wareham 0: The Warriors (9-4) have won three of their last four matches.

Sharon 5, Martha’s Vineyard 0: The Vinyarders (8-3) were swept for the first time this season as they fell to unbeaten Sharon.

Mariele Henley won first singles (6-2, 6-3) over Lucy Koenig, Hannah Rogers beat Sylvie Oswanski in second singles (6-0, 6-1), and Esme Milde won third singles (6-0, 6-0) for Mashpee. Emily Doolan and Suzie Dias won second doubles (6-1, 6-0).

Bourne 3, Seekonk 2: The Lady Canalmen (7-6) beat Seekonk for the second time this season. McKinley Wenzel beat Liana Da Fonseca in second singles (7-6 (8-6), 8-6, 8-6), Anna Conlon defeated Franchesca Pais in third singles (7-5, 6-3), and Ainsley Hopwood and Zoe Noonan won second doubles (6-0, 6-2) over Julie Tortolani and Grace Baldassi.

Cape Cod Academy 3, Sturgis East 2: The Seahawks (10-4) have won seven of their last eight matches as they beat the Storm (1-8). Lili Shanahan defeated Keegan Andres in first singles (6-0, 6-0), Yoana Dokleva and Molly Lowery beat Eli Mariak and Audrey Wankel in first doubles (6-1, 6-10, and Kaleigh Howe and Megan Morey won second doubles (6-0, 6-1) over Matejah Champagne and Lanney Lowenstein for Cape Cod Academy.

Martina Garcia-Raya defeated Julia McCaffrey in second singles (6-3, 6-2), while Sydney Faranetta beat Jemma Meadows in third singles (6-4, 6-1) for Sturgis East.
