HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP: Madison volleyball wins Tecumseh Invite

TECUMSEH — The Madison volleyball team went into Tecumseh Monday and came out as invite champions.

The Trojans (7-1-3) split a pair of duals against Ida (25-11, 25-27) and Carleton Airport (23-25, 25-10) in pool play to earn the fifth seed in the gold bracket. In bracket play, Madison defeated Airport (25-11, 25-13) and Tecumseh in the semifinals (25-19, 17-25, 15-12).

In the championship, the Trojans took on LCAA foe Dundee and battled back to win, 19-25, 25-13, 15-9.

Tatum Wilson had 46 kills and nine blocks while Jillian Kendrick had 84 assists and Roni Flores had 59 digs and 10 aces.

Tecumseh got a bye into the semifinals, where it lost to Madison, after splitting with Dundee (25-27, 25-20) and beating Onsted (25-16, 25-17).

Emma Eldred had another strong day as she recorded 27 kills, 14 digs and five aces. Alli Zajac added 19 kills and 10 blocks.

Lily Hammond had 41 assists and Ashlee Frazzini had 19 digs.

GIRLS GOLF

TECUMSEH INVITE

TECUMSEH — Adrian, Clinton and Onsted were all part of the Tecumseh Invite at Tecumseh Golf Club, but it was outsider Saline taking the top spot, while Clinton's Kyleigh Ramos was the medalist.

The Hornets shot a team score of 403, besting Adrian (429) and Tecumseh (429), Clinton (502) and Onsted (518).

Ramos led the Redwolves and the entire field with an 82 while Tecumseh's Lucy Whelan and Adrian's Cassidy Hawken each took third (92) and Tecumseh's Brooke Kosco took sixth with a 98. Onsted's top golfer was Anisley Brezva with a 111.

BOYS SOCCER

Adrian 7, Hillsdale 0

HILLSDALE — After a scoreless first half, the Maples kicked up in the second half by scoring seven goals to move to 3-2 on the season.

Joey Spagnoli had two goals and three assists while Brady Hanosh had one goal and two assists and Nate Wojcik, Carter Allen, Nick Flores and Sawyer Cranmore all had a goal as well. Tony Hernandez had an assist while Gary Kemerer made four stops for the shutout.

Clinton 8, Leslie 0

LESLIE — The Redwolves won their third-straight as they traveled to the Blackhawks for a non-league matchup and won by a mercy.

Jimmy Schaffner had two goals while Max Hampel, Angel Rubio, Sam Erickson, Parker Baughey, Ian Bacha and Jacob Rothman also scored. Mattis Riddle, Samson Schaffner, Cole Hillegonds and Gabe Manchester all had assists.

Columbia Central 5, Blissfield 2

BLISSFIELD — The Royals fell to 0-2 on the season in what is now a non-conference match after the Golden Eagles left the LCAA after last season.

Miles Seiser made 11 saves while Caleb Vore and Jacob Bauman had the goals.

New Boston Huron 8, Tecumseh 0

NEW BOSTON — Huron got the best of Tecumseh in a non-league shutout.

Tecumseh drops to 2-2 on the season.

BOYS TENNIS

Adrian Tri

ADRIAN — Tecumseh and Adrian met as part of the Adrian Quad where the Maples bested their Lenawee County rivals, 4-3.

The Maples were led by their singles group as Cayden Barrus, Carter Howard, Nathan Leonard, and Nolan Wood got the wins.

Chelsea was the third team and beat both Adrian and Tecumseh, 8-0.
