HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP: JPII boys golf continues historic run

The St. John Paul II boys golf team continued their historic run (best start in school history) with their ninth straight win as they beat Bourne 247-23 at the Bend Course at Willowbend on Wednesday.

JPII (9-0) tri-captain Jack Carstensen overcame a triple bogey to post the day’s low score with a 38. Senior tri-captain Matt Curley came in with a 40, followed by tri-captain Timmy Adams with a 41. Junior Bella Scioletti, finished with a 41, edging her younger brother Sam Scioletti, who tallied a 42. Rounding out the six scores used by the Lions was sophomore Chris Heywood with a 45.

Bourne (7-2) was led by senior captain Ryan Burgess, who shot a 43. Brett Lucier and Dana Leach each contributed with 45s for the Canalmen.

Sandwich 122, Cohasset 280: The Blue Knights (6-2) picked up the win at The Ridge Club. Dylan McCabe shot a 37, while Blaze Chatigney followed up with a 39. Luke Greeley (42), Zaren Graff (43), Cole Rogers (43), and Nathen DeBlank (46).

Upper Cape 262, Rising Tide 299: The Rams (8-2) picked up the win at Atlantic Country Club. Matt Nawoichik led with a 37, followed by a 38 from Asher Graff. Zephyn Johnson and Nolan Roche each shot a 43, Tyler Kutil had a 48, and Mitchell Kirkland finished with a 53.

Westport 9, Cape Tech 0: The Crusaders (0-8) lost at the Acoaxet Golf Course.

Field Hockey

Monomoy 5, Nauset 0: The Sharks (5-0-1) remain unbeaten after the win over the Warriors (2-3-2). Susannah Brown scored twice, while Kate Huse, Sage Harrison and Emily Layton chipped in a goal.

Dartmouth 1, Dennis-Yarmouth 0: The Dolphins (4-3-2) fell short in a defensive game.

Falmouth 4, Barnstable 1: The Clippers (3-2-1) beat the Red Hawks (4-2-1) for their second straight win.

Girls Volleyball

Dennis-Yarmouth 3, Nantucket 0: The Dolphins (5-4) win their second straight match with a sweep (25-19, 25-21, 26-24) over the Whalers (5-3). Mariah Eaton led the offense with 10 kills and added three blocks, while Irelynn Shenk contributed three aces and 10 digs. Ellen Swanson had 16 digs, and Vivian Castano dished out 22 assists. Yahely del Rosario Gomez led the Whalers with 21 assists.

Falmouth 3, Nauset 0: The Clippers (4-4) swept the Warriors (2-7) in straight sets 25-16, 25-16, 25-15. Junior setter Christina Femino had four aces, six digs, and nine assists for Falmouth. Sophomore middle hitter Brooke Farrington added three blocks and three kills, while senior libero Delia Roulston had 10 digs, six aces, and one kill.

Old Colony 3, Upper Cape 0: The Rams (0-8) lost on the road. Ella Kerrigan, Grace Delorie and Emma King played well offensively and defensively for the Rams.

St. John Paul II 3, Sturgis West 0: The Lions (7-2) won their fourth straight match in straight sets 25-17, 25-16, 25-16. Rosanna Sullivan had a good all-around game with 12 aces, eight kills, and five digs, while Zlata Alioshka contributed 14 assists, and four digs. Ava Czech chipped in four kills, and Molly Pulit added 10 digs for JPII.

Bourne 3, Seekonk 0: The Canalwomen (9-0) won their ninth straight match in straight sets 25-10, 25-11, 25-18. Hannah Petrillo and Reese Williams played well offensively, while Tallulah Beane, Avery Morrill, and Mackinley Scully played well defensively.

Sturgis East 3, Rising Tide 0: The Storm moved to 3-2 on the season.

Norfolk Aggie 3, Cape Tech 1: The Crusaders (6-2) lost their second match of the season.

Seekonk 2, Bourne 1: The Canalmen (1-5-2) came up just short after they tied it 1-1 five minutes into the second half. Midfielder Logan Koosa scored the tying goal from 25 yards out, while senior captain Leo Andrade finished with four shots on target, which included a breakaway that was saved with one minute to play.

Sturgis East 2, Atlantis Charter 0: Gabriel Codjoe scored on a penalty kick, and had one assist to lead the Storm (2-3-2) in the win. PJ Dacruz scored the other goal.

Sandwich 9, Carver 0: The Blue Knights (4-2-1) had a shutout win behind four goals and one assist from Matt Murray. Ben Seeley had one goal and one assist, while Adam Klaiber, Sam Hart, Harry Delman, and CJ Bice each scored a goal. Maadeh Biruk had two helpers, and Chase Collentro, Thomas Sutton, and Liam Haveran each had one assist.

Norwell 3, Mashpee 0: In a defensive battle, the Falcons (3-3) fell short.

Bourne 1, Seekonk 1: The Canalwomen (4-3-1) ended in a draw. The lone goal was scored by Sienna Silvia, while Olivia Meda played well in net with 10 saves.

Sandwich 5, Carver 0: Sophomore Megan Jakubicka notched a hat trick to lead the Blue Knights (4-2-1) offense in the road win. Senior Lily Hofmann scored twice, while sophomore goal keeper Sophia Wanat secured the shutout in net. The backline of senior Julia Sutton, senior Ella Raymond, junior Ayla Whitney and junior Sophie Smalley played well on defense.

Norwell 6, Mashpee 0: The Falcons (2-4) goal keeper Norah Paolini had 26 saves in the loss.

Upper Cape 5, Norfolk Aggie 2: Alaina Hines had a first half hat trick, and Gabby Cole added another goal for the Rams (3-3) win.
