HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP: John Richard and Alex Finn leads D-Y baseball to walk-off win

With an RBI from Alex Finn in the bottom of the eighth inning, John Richard scored the winning run for a walk-off win for the Dennis-Yarmouth baseball team's 2-1 victory over Martha's Vineyard on Wednesday. Jake Bohlin pitched 7.2 innings, scattered four hits, gave up one run, walked one, and struck out seven for D-Y.

Baseball

Upper Cape 11, Bourne 1: The Rams (15-2) won their fifth straight game as they beat the Canalmen (3-12). Starter Tyler Kutil pitched four scoreless innings, scattered three hits, and struck out three with no walks for Upper Cape, while Devyn Shultze struck out two in the fifth inning. Shultze, Nate Smith, Logan Ewell, Nolan Roche, Patrick Acord and Jacob Allen led the Rams offense.

Nauset 6, Falmouth 2: Jake Doherty went the distance as he allowed two hits, gave up two runs (one earned), one walk and struck out two for the Warriors (14-4) win over the Clippers (6-10). Ethan Beer (one RBI, one run) and Andrew Dinnan each had two hits, while Evan Archer, Ryan O'Keefe, Paul Alves, Brody Bassett and Seamus Mahoney each recorded a hit for Nauset.

Jack Frostholm and Eathen Vecchione each had a hit, while Brody Palmer added an RBI for Falmouth.

Sturgis 22, Rising Tide 9: Ben Conlon had a home run as one of his four hits for Sturgis (4-8). Dolan Cameron had a triple and three hits, while Casey Cameron recorded his first three varsity hits for Sturgis.

Barnstable 2, Fairhaven 1: The Red Hawks (13-3) have won six of their last seven games. Sladen Johnson earned the win after pitching a complete game, allowing one run, and striking out seven for Barnstable.

Luke Harmon drove in the winning run in the bottom of the sixth inning, while Jack Tarbox scored the winning run on the play. Liam Fishback played well on defense at short as he recorded three putouts and a double play that ended the top of the sixth inning.

St. John Paul II 7, Archbishop Williams 3: The Lions (12-5) have won six of their last seven games. Tyler Ross pitched six innings, scattered three hits, allowed two earned runs, and struck out eight for JPII, while Ryan Amerault recorded his first career save. Brady Meyer and Colin Buckley each had two hits and three RBIs, while Logan Our finished with two hits, two runs, and three stolen bases.

Monomoy 7, Nantucket 0: The Sharks (10-7) recorded their fifth shutout win, beating the Whalers (2-12). Finn Hyora pitched a complete shutout game and led the offense with three runs scored for Monomoy. Reign Stephens and Casey Huse each had RBI doubles, while Chase Yarletts made key plays on defense.

Softball

Rising Tide 16, Mashpee 3: Addison Losh had two hits and one RBI, while Kiri Sawyer and Molly Brooks each added one hit for the Falcons (0-12).

Monomoy 18, Dennis-Yarmouth 6: The Sharks (14-1) won their 11th straight game as they beat the Dolphins (6-10). Alana Lojko went 4-for-4 at the plate with one home run, one triple, five RBIs, and one run scored, and pitched a complete game and allowed seven hits, six runs, no walks and struck out three for Monomoy.

Willa Leighton (four RBIs, two runs, one triple), and Bella Bellefeuille (three BRIs, two runs) each had three hits, while Kate Huse (two RBIs, two runs, one walk), Lilly Furman (one RBIs, two runs), and Hailey Lanciani (one RBI, one run) each added two hits each.

Falmouth 13, Nauset 1: Rylin Briggs struck out 10 over five innings and had a a three-run triple in the fifth inning for the Clippers (10-5).

Girls Lacrosse

Old Rochester 12, Bourne 2: The game was stopped with four minutes left in third period due to head injury to Bourne goalie Mia Lowden. Taylor Simard and Bree Lunedei scored the goals for Bourne.

Hull 15, Mashpee 5: Ciara Hendricks led the Falcons (4-10) with three goals. Amari Mills (one goal), Claire Howard (one goal), Sky Hickey (one assist), and Riley Thomas had 17 saves in goal.

Sandwich 16, Bishop Stang 3: Quinn Anderson (two assists) and Maddie Ramsey each finished with with three goals for the Lady Knights (14-1). Kyla Darmon (one assist), Addy Anderson, and Julia O'Neil (one assist) each scored twice, while Elisabeth Statzman, Avery Cobban, Abi Reisig and Kolbie Darmon each contributed a goal for Sandwich.

Boys Lacrosse

Bourne 9, Old Rochester 8: Charlie Seitz finished with five goals, including the game winner, for the Canalmen (10-5) win. Sean Kelley and Ty Hawkes each scored twice, Brett Lucier contributed three assists, and Max Beals had 27 saves in goal.

Old Colony 13, Cape Tech 0: The Crusaders (1-14) lost their third straight game.

Nantucket 14, Abington 4: The Whalers (13-1) have won 11 straight games.

Girls Tennis

St. John Paul II 4, Nantucket 1: The Lions (16-0) remain unbeaten with their 16th straight win. The highlight was the first singles as Lily Walker beat Joan Harris 6-2, 6-4 for JPII.

Boys Tennis

Martha’s Vineyard 4, Dennis-Yarmouth 1: The Vineyarders (9-3) have won three of their last four matches as they beat the Dolphins (3-12). The incoming rain shortened play as coaches on both sides decided that one set would be sufficient to decide the winner at each position.

Zack Potter defeated Max Mingo in first singles (6-1), Kert Kleeman won second singles (6-1) over Collin Caron, and Tommy Flynn beat in third singles (6-4) for Martha's Vineyard. Roger Schilling and Henry Hall defeated Aidan Karras and Ryan Clarke in second doubles (6-1).

Oscar Turek and Michael O'Reilly beat Kyle Levy and Henry Wansiawicz in first doubles for D-Y, their individual match win over the Vineyarders in seven years.

Monomoy 4, Nauset 1: The Sharks (9-6) have won four of their last five matches as they beat the Warriors (9-5).

Ryan Casey defeated Lucas Wilson-Berington in first singles (6-0, 6-0), Gavin McDonnell beat Jason White in second singles (6-3, 7-5), and Roman Pavluchenko won third singles (6-1, 6-4) over Salvi Cacciola for Monomoy. Liam Jordan and Blake Noonan defeated Joey Smith and Soren Jones-Carlson in second doubles (6-2, 2-6, 6-2).

Tom Foley and Will Murphy defeated Ethan Seufert and Paul Carlson in first doubles (6-2, 5-7, 7-6 (11-9)) for Nauset.

Cape Cod Academy 4, Rising Tide 0: The Seahawks (12-1) have won 12 straight matches. Ben Catalano defeated Jack Flynn (6-1, 6-4) in first singles, Ayden Naydenov beat Connor O’Neil in second singles (6-1, 6-1), and Declan Livingston won third singles (6-4, 6-1)over Alex Barron for Cape Cod Academy.

Connor Hall and Garret Wilson defeated Cam Sadler and Robert Downey in first doubles (6-3, 6-1), while second doubles was suspended due to weather.

Nantucket 4, St. John Paul II 1: The Whalers (6-7) snapped a four-match losing streak with a win over the Lions (1-15).

Girls Golf

Barnstable 5, Nauset 1: Alexa Garthee was the medalist with a four over par 37 for the Red Hawks as they finished the season 11-2 and as league co-champs.

Boys Volleyball

Barnstable 3, Quincy 0: The Red Hawks (12-4) have won seven of their last eight matches with a sweep (25-18, 25-14, 25-13) win on the road. Hunter Parent (two kills, 24 assists), Nik Brancaccio (eight kills, two aces), Brady Kundel (12 kills), Matheus Alvarenga (nine kills), and Nik Britton (five digs) in the win for Barnstable.
